Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
1. I miss her, can't stand her, and want to talk about her all the time.
2. I'm lonely because I miss being with someone.
3. I have various preexisting issues.
#1 talk to therapist about #1 issues
#2 hang out with friends as usual (but don't talk about #1)
#3 see #1 :-) but occasionally ask for friends' advice
You're only a burden if you sound like a broken record. Then again, so long as it's funny, it's OK to talk about the same things over and over albeit in new, interesting ways. Isn't that what old friends do?
And the last thing I want to do is be a burden to my other friends. It is a tricky, fine line.....I go to support group on Thursdays, visit my counselor each week, and the same with my pastor.
Talking with others that have recently gone through it or are going through it seems to have worked best. We can share our sadness, regrets, fears, struggles.......and hope.
Perhaps this is the start of the healing process?
Up
and
down
I got past it by having those few reassure me....they are there if I need them, but I also know that sitting in that place of living in the past, and even with how I still feel now....it will only set me back.
I have worked on combating my loneliness by just living my life and doing things that I enjoy doing....when I isolate, it gets that much worse so I have to literally force myself to meet up with friends, reach out, etc.
I will say....it just ebbs and flows...some days I am great....other days? It feels like the end of the world. Still. Hang in there.
