Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
I went to therapy after my first divorce and it was very helpful but I got along with my therapist. Be honest with yourself and you therapist. Do the work when you have to. The more open you are, the better it helps.
Good luck! You have taken the first steps and are going to be well on your way to better emotional places :)
I learned that I can only control me and although throughout my work history I was always given the impossible project because I was the employee that could pull the rabbit out of the hat--but in this marriage, that was impossible and I should have given up long before. I realized there were so many signs of isolation in the marriage and I ignored them. Therapy was really eye opening.
I also found out in therapy that my ex had a real hatred of his mother even though he insisted we be at her home every other weekend and do work for her. That translated over into other women. I personally believed he had a fear of being alone because he had been left alone at home so much as a very young child--thus he was constantly and immediately remarrying after every divorce he had because he couldn't be alone and a marriage was a way of "holding onto" someone.
I hope it gives you all you are looking to get from it.
Yes - it initially helped me. I too am going to be seeking out a therapist who specializes in depression/PTSD again - I had two really great therapists who helped me through my PTSD before and I am going to seek them out first to see if they are part of a group now so I can get some help and start going in the right direction again.
Really proud of you - you are an inspiration. Do something to treat yourself.
