can you talk to your kids on the phone today? have an opportunity to laugh, express your love, let them know youre thinking about them?

The only idea I have, since I expereince the same thing, to some extent, and therefore have to think about this topic from time to time, is to acknowledge how you feel, accept it, then make a choice to enjoy your day. Each day truly is a gift, holiday or not - and I don't mean that to sound trite, because it is not at all. To b grateful for each and every day you receive on this earth is the absolute best medicine for most anything. And, yes, I have some really tough days, too, e.g. yesterday. I try to be nicer to myself, relax, and start being thankful for what I have, and that usually drags me up outta my rough days.

This is the second time my husband has left me before a holiday....and the same one at that! So today for me was pretty lonely...but I listened to music and cursed his name for doing this without warning again! The worst holiday for me will be at christmas because we got married two days after and it is also my birthday!! I feel your pain and know the difficulty that comes with not being with families during these times! Keep the faith that you will have better ones yet to come!! Hugs

Also feeling lonely, had a bit of a cry, visited with my family for lunch, but am home now, utterly alone. IT SUCKS!!! But I'll survive and tomorrow is another day that will hopefully suck a little less:) so I'm gonna eat hame and potato salad and watch movies and pretend like I WANT to be by myself. Not so bad, don't have to fight over what to watch!

I surrounded by family & friends & I feel alone. I guess the only thing we can do is to learn to be alone until we no longer are..if that makes any sense.

Year before last I was alone for the holidays. I too have no children. The following year I made friends with a divorcee and played Santa Claus to 2 children. It's been through volunteer work I've made new friends and created my own community.

Holidays are tough for me as well. I was with my family Friday night, my niece and nephew and sister were in town. Last year I was with my ex and his kids..... I was alone yesterday....by choice. I just keep isolating myself from everyone. I hope things get better for you. Hugs

I just started dating someone whose kids live in another state fulltime with their mother and he only sees them certain holidays and during the summer. Without any family in this state he is often alone for many holidays throughout the year that are not his designated holidays.

Since his kids moved away, he has built up new family and supports. He spent the Easter holiday with friends and their kids for Easter brunch then went to church with them afterward. Sounds like it's time for you to start forging new friendships and relationships. There are many single people out there that either don't have kids and an SO like yourself, or their families live elsewhere and would like to have others around them on the holidays. You just need to widen your circles as many other people have had to do post breakup or divorce.
