Yes that happens to me almost everytime I go grocery shopping. I flip out on the prices, I just cant believe it.

I had my last TBI in 2010 to. Im having a really hard time with soooo much man.. This really sucks.

I know what you're talking about. For me it's not so much a matter of being "stuck" in the year of my accidents ( although I still have trouble remembering how old I am. I still want to say the age I was when I had brain surgery - one marriage and two children ago!).

For me it's a matter of just not being aware of time passing. I can look out at the sky and not remember if there's flowers on the ground or snow. When I don't understand why it's so hot outside, someone reminds me that it's late July and time for these temperatures. It's the same with my daughters. They're both married and living away, yet there's a part of me that expects them to walk in the house and tell me how school was. I can't believe one of them is talking about having children. How did they get to be this age? I don't remember their childhoods.

So time is the thing I have trouble with. I understand prices , but am not aware of when they got expensive, etc. I also have trouble with when a certain building was built, or another renovated. Before my third head injury, I was aware of my home being built in 1916 and how I could decorate in that era. Now I don't remember that I did research , let alone how far back 1916 was. All I know is that my family is older , so that means I must be. 1916? As far as I"m concerned, that could be the age of my home, or the year I was born ! It can be so frustrating. Thank goodness for the three calendars in my kitchen.

Yes, I'm 48 now and sometimes I am not sure if I am remembering a memory or a memory of a movie I watched with my nephews when they used to come over every other weekend. I will say to my brother a line in the movie, then swear it was a memory from our childhood. Then I watch the movie on tv and say, "Oh shit" out loud AND GET OUT OF BED AND CALL MY BROTHER, and tell him the truth of what really happened. He laughed and said, " I knew it" LOL. I feel like a dumb ass................................

The price of gas doesn't get me but I too have forgotten my age... I can remember my birthday but it doesn't make any sense as to how old I am. I sat in the bathroom the other day staring at a towel I most likely bought several years ago but still, I wonder who's towel it is. Some things have become so alien...

I seem to go back further for some reason. I had my accident in Denmark where I had moved the year before my accident, I'm still here but the year I moved here was 2006 and then my accident happened in December of 2007 but whenever anyone asks me how long I have live in Denmark I say since 96 or if it comes up about my accident I say it was 97. I have no idea why I do this. Maybe they were good years. I was a teenager so young and carefree, a very different time. Funny though if I remember correctly mobiles were just new on the scene and there was no facebook so why is it always stuck in my head. Maybe its just easier to say 97 instead of 2007.

Its just like time has no matter anymore. To me I belong in the late 90's, early 00's. It just seems like that was a good time for me, the prices make sense and the things around me make sense.. I like the ideal of forgetting my age, what a way to stay young forever. Anita never feel like a "dumb ass". Really start messing with your bro, think of a really good movie and relive it playing the parts with him, well only if he has a really good sense of hummor. I have a friend that does crazy shit like that with me. We never call it a TBI its always a GMC, WWE, TNT, OMG, and so on.lol Dates I tend to really stop and think about before answering any questins or it'll be all messed up...... The only way I know to get through this crazy shit is to laug. Some people Im sure think Im crazy, but its laugh or go postal. I think I picked the right one.....lol

hell yeah you did pick the right one. Sometimes I can just start laughing for no reason or grinning like a cheshire cat and people think I have gone crazy but if you can't laugh at the mad things you catch yourself doing you only go crazy right. Having a sense of humour is so important when you have a tbi. It helps and makes it easier to deal withnanyway
