Brain Injury Support Group
Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.
it takes very little to throw my thermostat out of order .
I know a lot of recovering survivors of Brain Injury find living in a cold. hot or ambient temperature helps .
I now reside very close to where I was hit for that reason,It has helped!
I no longer go to the beach in summer and get goose bumps and can even swim on a good day without freezing.
Could be related to medications you are on also ?
Cheers , Daz
He also stressed the importance of drinking gallons of water and not becoming dehydrated. I am on a med that keeps me from sweating, so am more apt to become dehydrated and that leads to heat exhaustion and other things. He said that hot weather actually thickens the blood and it's harder for the heart to pump. The blood goes to the heart and other organs to try to keep the body temp down. This means the blood is going to vital organs , and not so much to the brain. That causes fatigue and tbi symptoms can seem worse. ( This includes shakiness , as well as cognitive issues.)
I don't know if this info helps you, but it's how things were explained to me years ago. Take it easy in the heat, drink and stay cool . I know in some parts of the country this is easier said than done. I suppose i should be thankful I live in Maine where we only have a few weeks of extreme weather ( in the summer, that it. Winter is another story!)
