Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.
You need to find doctors that understand TBI which is far and few between.
Went to two neurologist who had no idea how to handle the TBI, and look for one that did. My current Neurologist put me on medication for Parkinson's Disease for a period of one month. The medication is know to help the healing process. I also attend cognitive therapy 2x a week to help me with my memory.
I have periods of depressive which is normal, who would not feel depressed going through this. Feelings of isolation come in because people don't understand what its like to have a TBI when they never had issues with their thinking. Most things that people take for granted, I can't due to the TBI.
On the good side, I do know that in time my problems will get better. Patience is the key. The bottom line is to find doctors that understand TBI and know how to treat the problem.
