Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.

Like awhile back, my husband and I were in a wal Mart parking lot, and we saw a man that had a cast on his leg trying to put a wheelchair in the trunk of his car.
I meant to walk over and say, "Hey do you need some help with that?" What came out of my mouth was, "Excuse me Sir, do you requite assistance?"
Ok so who talks like that? Oh sure there are some people. But not many in Oklahoma. It is not the only time something like this happened. I was just wondering if it has happened to anyone else.

But I do have those blips, where I'll be unable to speak, or scramble words or can't remember words.
I saw on your profile that you were injured as a child. So it's probably harder for you to remember the "before" and "after" of having suffered a TBI.
That's my long, rambling response to say that yes, what you experienced is common w/a brain injury - speech difficulty. Where, we will think of one thing but something else comes out. People often think of speech problems solely as garbling words. But what you describe is a type of speech problem where your brain says one thing and something different comes out of your mouth.
