Brain Injury Support Group
Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.

hi
i posted here last spring
i had a tbi brain injury and i had repeated brain and spine injuries over the past 9 months. due to violence against me
i was injured with lethal doses of directed energy and microwave weapons and also electricuted
it almost killed me and i had severe tbi symptoms. i first suffered a brain stem injury. my basic functions were not working after and i had symptoms of radiation sickness from the microwave attacks
and burns on my skin and face and scalp from being electricuted and burned
i still have rough dry sandpaper type patches of skin on my knees and arms where the electric volts went through and out my feet and hands
its hard for me to tell what happened to me or how to explain my symptoms . so i just say to doctors that i fell and hit my head but i did not
i was hit by something . but i had vominitns, nauseasous trouble swallowing water and food for a while after
autonomic storming
and other serious symptoms
vision and hearing issues
i also had sleep issues for a few weeks after the original injury. but that was almost back to normal i was eventually able to doze off for 7-8 hours within a few months
then i got inured again this summer hit in the head and burned on the inside. it felt like they were burning parts of my brain like the thalmus
and i started to get burns and internal injuries on my spine
when that started happening i started to get sleep problems again and insomnia but worse than the first time. i was only able to doze off every 3rd night for almost a month and eventually i started being shaky after being injured constantly every day for weeks
i started to have trouble keeping my balance and walking, weakness in my thorasic and back and chest
i could not even lie down without there being severe pain on the back and i had a feeling of caving in or a weak spine muscles
i started to be shaky and then i could not sleep anymore i went from dozing off only every 3rd night for a month to eventually not dozing off at all for 2 weeks
i got desperate and looked for sleeping pills. but i had energy and was not tired then in tose 2 weeks
eventually i did dose off for 3-5 hours
that was 3 months ago and since then i doze off for 3-6 hours. some nights since then i couldnt sleep
but even when i do sleep i feel as if i didnt sleep. im never tired in the last 3 months. never tired i cant feel tired since august
i force myself to go into bed
i dont know what damage it is but i cant feel tired anymore and im shaky for 3 months it is weird. i have odd tremors and i feel something is strange neurologically or with my spine
i got a spine mri and it showed some damage but i dont know what extent since mri dosnt show spine function
i feel as if i cant sleep because of the spine damage after brain damage.
some way some signals arrent being sent
i used to be a heavy sleeper and sleep 8-10 hours a night with no problem, before the tbi and injuries
even if i was upset about something i would still doze off 8-10 hours within 2 min
now i barely black out for 4 or 5 hours a night., last night i went to bed at 4am and woke up at 5am and looked at the clock realized i only blacked out for one hour
i call it blacking out becaise i fdont feel like i sleep. it is not the same type of sleep i used to before 3 months
my muscles are stiff and shaky
im starting to get some memory problems and mood issues from not sleeping well.
i dont even think i slept in the last 3 months. maybe blacked out a few hours a night but i dont feel like i got one night of sleep
i dont feel like i need to sleep ever in the last 3 months
i feel as if i dont physically need sleep. i have energy every day no matter what. even if i dont doze off for days in a row. i never feel drowsy or tired
maybe my circadium clock is broken? i used to get to a point where id be drowsy if i dont sleep and in the last few months i dont do that anymore
i have to try to force myself to feel tired and it dosnt work much.
im not myself these days in the last few months
i heard it is dangerous to not sleep
it is a basic thing needed to live and i cant physically sleep normally in the last 3 months since the spine trouble
i cant even go about my day because i dont feel well from not sleeping and not feeling tired
my thought process is foggy since not sleeping i started to get irritable and feel depressed after a few months of not sleeping normally
this is all strange for me because my whole life i have barely gone any day without sleeping. im in my 30s and it is not normal for me to have insomnia and now i have the brain injury and spine injury and now i have new insomnia that is strange
it scares me
i tried everything to help. what i noticed is i think the insomnia is related to a new shakeyness. ever since the tremors started( i feel shaking in my spine/back) and my head shakes and hands
the insomnia started rigt after the tremors started
so i think whatever it making the tremors happen is also the cause such as the signal in my brain not sending correctly
i tried over the counter sleeping pills, tea, vitamins , herbs, listen to music, everything and it dosnt help
i have been to a doctor and they tried to prescribe sedatives or other prescription medication to help sleep and i dont want to resort to that. i dont want to rely or be stuck taking pills that have side effects
something must have gone into shock in the few weeks where i only dozed off the 3rd night. and maybe my circadian clock dosnt work now
i went to a sleep center and they tested me for sleep apnea and they said i dont have that
they told me that in the sleep study i dozed off only a few hours and was not able to get much rem sleep. they said my sleep patern and stages are not normal
im getting iritable and depressed and nervous and have phobias because i havent had any refreshing night of sleep since months ago
buit i tell myself that its not me it is because i cannot rest and restore energy. your mental state can deteriorate if you dont sleep well
insomnia can drive people crazy.
anyweays has anyone here dealt with anything like this or a new insomnia after a tbi brain injury or neurological issue
?

My sleeping problems are different than yours. As far as I can tell my brain damage did not affect my sleeping habits. 26 years ago though my colon was amputated and replaced by my small intestine. That's when my sleeping problems began. Before that I could sleep as long as 12 hours, now 5 or 6 is usually my max. I've grown use to it and think after all this time my sleep habits have improved. Perhaps your body will adjust/evolve to handle this strange issue you're going through too. Problem is it just might take years before it does.
