Brain Injury Support Group
Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.
A long time ago I was in horrific car wreck and sustained a TBI, rib cage ripped apart, other injuries, etc... Since then 2 other bad wrecks, though not near as bad as first! NONE of them were my fault, just in case anybody is wondering!?
Anyway...since then I have had many falls, and other injuries to my head! As of recent I hit my head and put a nice knot on the front with a nice gash to go with it! Two wks later I sustained a blow to the side/temporal part of my head, with a baseball at the suture of there and the parietal! I am recovering from a new concussion along with whiplash, from falling off the side of the foot of the bed, via help from my dog! LOL LOL
So anyway, I HAVE PCS! POST CONCUSSION SYNDROME for those who do not know what pcs is!? Have had it since my first HI/TBI! But of course it's been made much worse over time by repeated blows to my head!!
I have suffered most all of the symptoms of MS w/o having MS, as far as I know!!?? According to last Neuro!! Neuro said it is PCS causing the MS type symptoms! Said that it can definitely happen and work just like relapsing/remitting MS due to fact that PCS brains can only handle basic stuff like getting up, getting dressed, basic housework or chores, and going to the store, if all that!? But no more! Any more and the brain starts shutting down different areas of the body! And or different functions with it!! And can shut those functions or misfires, or whatever down for some period of time! WHICH I CAN CERTAINLY TESTIFY TO!
He didn't tell me anything I didn't already know!!! Just confirmed what I already thought and knew!!
Since this last concussion I have been messing up my speech much more!! Like I am saying something, totally have in my head what I'm saying, but something completely different comes out!!! And like I'm thinking and trying to say one word and something I'm not even thinking comes out instead!! Totally different word!!??
And also..... I was having to push mow the past couple of days! Had to spend 35-45 min...fixing it first! But started out bad right off the start! Couldn't hardly walk back and forth with it! And the more I tried to mow the worse it got! In no time I was LITTERALLY WALKING LIKE A PERSON WITH CP!!! FEET TURNED INWARD! AND DRAGGING!!
TOTALLY NEW SYMPTOM FOR ME!!!! NEVER DONE THAT BEFORE!!
Oooo ya.... and this last time I was screaming and suffering for 4 days before I could get help or get to the ER! But once I got there they still didn't do a GB thing!!! Rrrr Happily sent me on back home to suffer some more!!!
I'm sooo GD sick of doctors that don't care, don't help and don't listen!!
So anyway........ALL OF THIS IS REALLY SCARING AND DEPRESSING ME!!!! And I got a crazy psycho neighbor stalking, harassing, stealing from me, along with yelling, screaming, and cursing me like crazy! Determined to control my driveway, and does all kinds of crazy ass shit for me to endure and see, etc.... when I go to my mailbox!
As though all of this shit and the recent loss of my vehicle isn't enough!
So DEPRESSED, FRUSTRATED, AND SCARED I GUESS!? AND NOBODY TO REALLY TALK TO ABOUT IT!!! AND CERTAINLY NOBODY THAT WOULD EVER BEGIN TO UNDERSTAND....

Just over a week ago I hit my head on the doorway of a van and it didnt even seem to hurt much at the time. Later that day though I noticed I was dragging my right foot. My vision, while I could see clearly I wasnt comprehending what I was seeing right away. My speech was more messed up than normal, and worst part for awhile I wasnt aware of when I needed to use the restroom. I wonder if previous injuries make us more sensitve. I never went to the doctor because I cant afford it and they are no damn help anyway.
I"ve had so many head traumas that I have been diagnosed with a prematurely aging brain. Instead of aging gracefully , I'll lose a cognitive ability over a period of a few months. Doc said I"ll age by steps and stairs instead of a graceful line. Right now i"m having word retrieval problems. i"m studying the thesaurus to have additional words to the one I want. Of course, when referring to my daughters I still say "The blonde one" or "the tall one" . I can't remember their names .
I know a lot of my trouble is because of so many insults to my head. ( I can count 6 concussions and 2 comas in my lifetime , let alone losing 1/3 of the right side of my brain in brain surgery) . I do all I can to keep my brain functioning as well as it is now. I know I'll go downhill as I age, but hopefully I can stave off some of the troubles for now. ( I also wrap bubblewrap around my head in icy weather so I don't get another tbi!)
