How I feel for you - if it is external noise then noise cancelling headphones may be the answer. My son found these to be brilliant.

I feel for you too and noise cancelling headphones were my first thought also!! I use "white noise" which for me is a box fan on medium day/night plus ear plugs, but in the earlier years of my BI I lived in an apartment/second floor with an apartment above me..I thought I was going to go nuts...when the tenant above me walked across the floor above me it really felt like he was walking directly on my head..no kidding...and it was explained to me people with Tbi/Abi have brains that lose the ability to filter out everyday, regular noise. I bought a pair of regular headphones and until I could find a top floor apt, I wore them with earplugs and cotton, and I bought a little tv with a headphone jack so I could watch tv. It is overwhelming to deal with!!!

There is something called "Hyper-acussis" that I have read about that can occur with BI....even affecting the inner ear/auditory nerves. I hope you can find a doc to help you with this...Hugs to you...we're here for you!!!

At Night When Going To Sleep , I Use A Sound Machine , I Use the Rain Setting , It Does Wonders For Me ,

Great suggestions.
I wore sunglasses all the time.
And a head scarf, or hijab.

Covering my head snugly and sunglasses filtered out sound.
