Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.
Hi-Its been a while since I've been here-hope everyone is doing well. It's been 1 year since I fell and got my MTBI. I certainly thought I'd be doing better, but at times, I feel worse. Maybe it's my age (60), or maybe this is just the way it is. My latest symptom started a few months ago. I was using google earth, using the part that lets you travel down a street just like you were walking on it. Well, I had to stop, because I got so dizzy and nausous. That feeling lasted a few days. A couple weeks after that, I was going through my e-mail, and was scrolling down. Watching the words moving up brought that whole dizzy/sick feeling back, and again it lasted for a couple of days. Yesterday, my daughter was coming for a visit and came on the train. I was parked by the track-the train goes past that. So when the train arrived it had to pass by me, and watching it before it stopped brought back the same feelings again. This time, it was so bad that I carefully drove home. By the time I got home-about 30 minutes- I felt so dizzy, sick-just like before. This time I had a really bad headache. I went right to bed and took a nap. That helped a bit, but my eyes still made me feel dizzy. Today, when I woke up, I was still feeling the same way, but had to get up. It's the middle of the afternoon, and I am just starting to feel a bit better. The neuro. is aware of the problems I have with my eyes-she said it is called ocular vertigo-but it's never been caused by things like this-at least not this bad. I do have dizziness when I move my eyes-like looking from the computer to the TV, but this was scary. Has anyone else had problems like this? I know most vertico comes from moving one's head, but this is like the opposite-I'm still, but looking at other things moving. It's been a year-shouldn't I be getting better, not worse? I see the neuro. on Friday, and of course will let her know about this. But I was just wondering if anyone has this, and what you did to get rid of it, or to compensate for it. Sorry this is so long. Yes, I have had these symptoms...and I agree it is scary. Changes are now unless they are for the better...but not worse.
I've not been diagnosed with ocular vertigo - but I've experienced the things you're explaining here.
I know this happens to me when I am having allergy type symptoms. I've corrected the problem by sleeping...(over the counter meds don't work, so I didn't waste the time trying them). Any time I have extra pressure in my sinuses it happens...stuffy nose etc. The last one I experienced full blown with sick feeling was flashing lights.
Please do talk to your doctor about it, it may be the same thing as what I've explained...but it may not be. Don't drive if you're feeling dizzy that isn't safe for you or other people driving in traffic with you.
In fact a phone call to the doctor may be in order. They are the ones that can tell you if they think it may need looked into before Friday! They know your condition and have a better idea what to watch for in the way of changes.
I find that at times -(when I am really fatigued!) I sometimes get dizzy or lightheaded, not very often,but every once in a while.

One time (when I was still married) I was talking with my ex-wife at the top of the basement stairs and I started to fall in mid conversation. She caught me just in time. Vertigo isn't anything that you should just try to explain. Have a doctor look at you. Because of what I feel is "damage to my vision or left eye"' I get easily tired of reading the laptop or watching tv. At times it even gets to the point that I need to nap like5 out of 7 That's the part I hate. Makes me feel old.
Then that day when I got home from the doctors when I was told to apply for SSDI, I learned of my ex-wifes true bearings with her heart. A few days later I asked for a divorce. :-) Smiles again.
But in all honesty, I wish I never had my TBI and was working. Life was much easier then.
