Brain Injury Support Group

Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.

Perhaps you all know this, but March is Brain Injury Awareness month. I've gotten my little green bracelet out that says "mind matters" , and just had a meeting with Coach Cosgrove , the football coach at the U of ME. We're planning the annual 'Walk for Thought" , a fundraiser for the ME tbi association. This year a bunch of football players will be walking with us due to the number of concussions they've experienced over the past few years. (They're now just realizing that concussions are a type of brain injury).

Does your state ( or wherever you live ) recognize B.I. month?

I would sure love to have one of those bracelets. I googled and I can't find out how to buy one.

I'm working with a group to create a larger brain injury organization where I live as there's not enough here.
