Brain Injury Support Group
Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.
i was abused for a long time, my whole life so i had to suffer at the hands of others and even my tbi at age 30 is due to abuse and violence to me from others. from rude disturbed people
my unhappyness is caused by other people and things they do to me
but the tbi is the scariest thing
i had a more mild tbi from medication when i was 14 and it changed my entire personality. so its like i had to start over as a child as a new person who i did not like and learn to make a life being the new person
then i got a tbi again this yr, this time it almost killed me but i dont want to die. im used to living a suffering life since i was a baby
my life quality is bad. before my tbi i had a terrible flesh eating virus for 5 yrs if that dosnt make u want to die nothing will
so it prepared me for more agony from the tbi wich i suffered due to abuse because i had a virus
i figured like this if i cant get much happyness or quality from like, what happyness and quality can i give to others here. even if you dont live for yourself you can for others. if you still have things to do and people to help then you are not done.
so i chose to live for other people.who can i help and influence i know the world needs alot more people like myself who can help make this a better place
and i do what i can even tho due to abuse im limited because they physically crippled me
but whoever i can help, whatever thing i can do
even small acts of kindness
But it takes more to overcome, and pay it forward.
feels that way, please reach out..there are hotline numbers here at DS too....we need you Ted, and we Do care about you! Prayers go out to you!
First, thank you all for your responses. They were filled with compassion and good ideas. Cheesecake, thank you for including the hotline number.
Ted, I spent 15 years before my 3rd tbi counseling teens. Many of them were suicidal, and we spent literally all night "just getting through the next 15 minutes". These teens eventually calmed down and realized that this was a permanent answer to a temporary problem. ( I know, Ted. This is not a temporary problem to you ) . I've been confronted with knives ( Charlene Biladeau did that in 1982 - funny how I remember her name ) . The police were called, but by the time they arrived, I was in her room while she threw the knife into the walls and cut the footboard off her bed . We had some heated exchanges. but I kept telling her I loved her and cared too much about her to let her do this. She finally gave me the knife and came downstairs.
My father was a funeral director , so I grew up with death and watched a lot of grieving families. Dad said by far, the worst death was suicide. It left so many questions for the survivors , from "why" to "I thought he loved me. I guess I wasn't enough". Those comments often came from the children. You've said you have no one in your life , and that you just make people angry. But even those people will wonder what could have driven you to such a drastic action. You may feel your suffering will end, but it will be just the beginning of suffering for others. Suicide seems like a selfish thing to do.
I hope you will continue to come here, and as Cheesecake said, take some steps so you won't feel so hopeless. We can encourage you and talk until we're blue in the face, but in the end it's your choice. I hope you will think through what doing this will mean to others, even your friends here. As Janet and I used to say , "We'll live for another 15 minutes". I hope you can find the strength to do even that. -Holly
