Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.

I am trying to re-acclimate my ears to sound, so I've started to listen to music this week. I find that I will listen to the same song over & over again (thank you You-Tube - lol!).

When I say over & over again, I mean literally all day. Yesterday & today has been "Hooked on a Feeling" by Vonda Shepard.

The other day it was "Damn It feels good to be a Gangsta" by the Geto Boys. ("Office Space" is one of my favorite movies.)

Before that it was "I am Woman" by Helen Reddy.

I guess you can see my eclectic music taste - lol.

But, anyway, anyone else have this need to hear something over & over again? I was not like that before the accident. Actually, I was the type to get bored easily, so just the opposite really.

Since learning about brain injury, I've suspected that I suffered from very mild brain injury since I was a child. I can remember several years of listening to the same song over and over and over again after that early head trauma.

right away after my accident I would have frequent panic attacks and hallucinations, or crying fits where I would just scream and cry for hours. only one song could calm me down, and I listened to it on repeat for about 3 weeks. Its really relaxing for me

Omg I thought I was the only one that did that lol...Ya I feel like I'm OCD song player lol I actually burned another cd cause the one I was playing repeatedly started to wear ..eek lol Music I find is one of the things that calms me down when I'm stressing out actually and since I don't have hardly any therapy its the most useful. So your not alone in that one :)

I never really thought that much about it. But yeah, I listen to the same music over and over. That has changed some as time has passed. One thing I did notice is that I was pretty much tone deaf after my accident. That is improving as well.

So, your not alone, but it does seem to improve.

I do that too..based on that last comment about being tone deaf...Do you thaaink that when I karaoke and sound like a drunken , tome deaf screaming cat I can blame it on my concussion??!! ( provided I am NOT with people that witnessed my vocal acts of destaration prior to my injury)

I've done this too. I listened to the same song repeatedly for 6 months...I finally had my chiropractor take the CD out of my car and she held onto it for me. Soon i found another song and she held on to that one too..and then a third CD...finally I went cold turkey and couldn't bring any CDs in my car. It took a little over a year before I felt I could ask for the CDs back. I have them back now and although I feel tempted..I have learned some self control :)

ZDunk- :) I think you can definitely blame it on the concussion. :) LOL
