Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.

I HATE MY BRAIN

I hate my brain tonight. I ran down to the DG for a few groceries. I left Jesse in the car because I had taken my shih-Tzu also. He hardly ever gets to go bye- byes. As I was checking out this man that looked familiar got in line behind me. He asked about Jesse, so he obviously knows about me and he looked so damn familiar! I just don't know who he is, but I know I should know who he is! I hate that. His wife even told him to help me out to my car with my groceries! I hate my brain!

It's the repair job on my brain is what I'm no fan of. I'm sorry they even put it back into commission.

That happens to me all the time. Especially when they come up and say your name lol and sometimes its real brief convo so I don't feel bad that I couldn't remember their name. I go by my nick name so a lot of ppl know me from my accident or they know my dad (he was in a band) and I look just like him

I have such bad short term memory that I keep note cards in my purse. I write down my apt times, where I'm going, etc. I used to be bad with names pre-TBI but now???????

I saw a neuropsychologist. She worked with me for 3 months........It helped me so much...I kept a notebook and still do of the things she taught. She typed them up. It may really help you. It did me.
I still have name issues but not nearly as bad as before. She taught me systems to use for all cognitive issues. She was at Kernan but just left. I know the next Dr. will be good if not better. I stayed at Kernan 2 months post TBI. Now my life is much better but a lot of work to get there....................

Drs were fiddling with my meds very recently. Ended up with what I called rolling blanks. Hubby stood and watched a few secs on one at night. What are you trying to do? Remember how to get into bed. Glad when they put meds back! Names? Seldom know, even a cousin once.
A repeat on tv? Whats a repeat? It can be embarrassing, most know now among people I know. Advantage we have is we can forget those we'd rather.
