Brain Injury Support Group

Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.

My husband has mild brain injury due to an mva 30 years ago.. he started working and functioning.. but the last 20 years since we got married has been a steady decline in living life, depression, cheating and diagnosed with bipolar I am having a really had time functioning and getting lost in his days.. any one know of online support for those who are in relationship.. thanks

Hi soulshine, there is a caregiver group here at DS....if you are reading this, look at the toolbar on this page...top right side at the end, where it says Groups...click on and the group is called "The Tea Room"....I don't know how active it is right now, but there are pages of threads/posts dealing with the things you are that may help you. There is another group online called Inspire.com....for people with Invisibile Disabilities of all kinds, including Brain Injury and caregiver groups too. There are lots of threads here on the BI site that are from those in relationships with someone who has had a BI too. This is so very hard to deal with, please feel free to come here anytime..vent, ask questions...lots of understanding here. Healing Hopes to you!

Had a reply typed and got kicked off again. That's been happening often of late.
