Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.
It's amazing. I was sitting here and came up with gift ideas for my daughter and son in law for next Christmas! I have to write these ideas down or I'm bound to forget them.
Since my concussion several years ago ( 3rd tbi) , I have mainly become the gift card queen. I just can't think of gifts to get others; or if I do,, I'm sure they won't like it. So to play it safe, I pick out stores I know others like, and get gift cards there. I feel like I"m cheating, but deciding on gifts is just really hard. ( It doesn't help that my husband says "That's not a gift- you're making them go shopping for their own things") .
My expectant daughter's birthday was last week , and I had her, her husband and his family over here for a small party. Her inlaws chose a wonderful rocking chair for her, and Matt's cousin gave her things she'd need once the baby arrived. I, on the other hand , gave her a subscription to a "mom's" magazine, and 2 gift cards . One was to a store she mentioned that had maternity clothes she wanted. So instead of going ahead and getting her some clothes, I just gave her a gift card to the store.
I'm just not as creative as I used to be about what to get others. Does anyone else feel this? I really dread gift-giving times now.

I am probably not the best one to respond, I'm creative in different ways, but making decisions about gifts for others I'm not good at....I over-analyze, and can't make a decision, so with gift cards, the person has the freedom to pick out what they really want/need.... and just my opinion, it's like going shopping for free, because someone else paid ahead of time (gift card) Blessings for the new baby!!
Because cards have become quite expensive I will put a lotto ticket or scratchie in with a present as opposed to buying a card. A friend who is a whizz on the computer makes her own, so personal and often very apt.
