yes and no, No I refuse to believe that this is it for me with life. i believe there will be a better brighter day one day and I look forward to it. The yes is because I know some things I just have to accept. I can learn to deal with the issues and problems I have and I have learned tricks to deal with many problems already. i accept I will never be the complete same person I was before but I have also gained many things because I have gone through all this. i am a much more caring person and I ma a bigger person and i would never want to lose those things. I am also much more aware of things around me and thankfully I got rid of some of the people that were no good in my life. Even if it took this nightmare to realise. I refuse to give up. My hopes and dreams are not too big to be unrealistic and I will keep on going after them but doesn't everyone have those dreams whether they have had an accident or not. It sucks what happened to people like us but we should never give up on havinga better life and making our dreams come true

I try to stay positive, because thats just the type of person I have always been. When I start thinking about this how I will always be is when I break down. So, if I think this is it then I will just sit and be depressed everyday and thats not going to happen. My life is not over, its just beginning is how I am trying to look at it. Long road ahead, but I just started counseling so this is my new start. I have to learn to forgive the people that did this to me and I need to learn to live with the pain if infact its going to be part of my life for years to come. The other stuff has been part of my life for 10 years and I am still not use to it, but its time to start getting use to it. After 10 years, I dont think its going to change so its the new me. If it does change then great and if not then I just need to learn to like the new me as hard as it may be.

When I had bells palsy overnight and woke up with face lopsided I had laser acupuncture which restored it. Hubby tells me if I get tired my lip on that side still drops a tiny bit he can notice, others may not, and my speech may slur a little. No way was I having the needle type, not that brave.
I am who I am now, a work in progress as far as I can take it, and this may be as far as I get. But now can walk a straight line, huge improvement, but balance will never improve as cant repair the damage to hairs in ear from one of the tbi's, so just have to be aware, have learnt to balance with my eyes more, changing lights from shadows to sun I have to be careful about, especially at night. But have gained so much in the process, it will all balance out some day.
God will never give us more than we can endure. And we have the chance to show others that in their lives, change their attitudes etc, even though we may not know we have.

It's been 6 long years for me. Time is on your side! I think the biggest thing I had to learn from this injury was patience. I always felt as I was healing in the early days, that I would be this way forever.

I had a huge weakness on my left side, my eyelid wouldn't shut, so I had to wear a patch for awhile, my mouth was dropped, I held my left arm crossed across my lap constantly like someone who is paralyzed would, I struggled to walk, and had a limp. All that has improved. I have no further issues with this. I run at the Y, and my vision is good. I drive for a living now. It took me 5 years to get back to work in a professional field, which is what I did before the wreck.

;) I definately don't feel normal, but I look normal, and I act normal.

Keep your head up! Times heals a lot of things. And always keep the hope for the next day.

The trickiest part seems to be figuring out when to get some medical help to aid the recovery.

I can only afford to go once in a while since my two jobs don't pay very often & don't provide insurance.
