Im the same no smell very little tase doctors say yes one minute no the next ! i hate em .my neroligist say to me its been too long after 6 months most dont get any back but some do .other people ive m,eet at rehab other tbi suffer's have had both there taste and smell return some over time some very quickly .and yes some not at all .wish ya luck like the rest of us

You got to learn patience it going to take time It took about 1 year for my taste to come back. Just take one day at time My smell is just coming back a little and it's almost been two years

I can't believe I still have smell and taste. My neurologist emailed me and she said my TBI was severe.

i think me and russ7118 are at about the same stage of that side of healing.its 2 years ago this feb I got hit! I also had a fair amount of blood run out both ears and had a fractured base of skull!we are all different dont forget that hey.I have taste but if I was to cook a chilli meal to my taste (and this did happen)I had to put half a kilo more mince with it and even then it was a very hot mix.so my taste is very poor.every now and then ill get a what i think is smell,or its more of a feeling?dunno.but yes Ive had that a few times walked outside and come back in ,big breath in.....and nothing again.I still hold high hopes I wont give up i want me back.This all takes time is sooooooooo slowwwwww depression anger all that emotional stuff + the physical side of a TBI.yes my friend its going to be a long road.but hey what dont beat us makes us stronger in the long run!good luck n happy new year to you also.

I am a little newer to all this. My Severe TBI was in july, I was told. I was in a coma for about 2 weeks. I do not remeber july at all. My neurosurgion showed me my last CT and showed me why I will never taste or smell again. I have a couple of dead spots on the brain. He told me My Short Term Memory may get better, but taste and smell will def. not return. But If that is the worst, I can deal with it. At least I do not get sick when I wwalk into a public restroom.. lol

Sorry to hear about your lost. its like my moms pain as no one can understand it only the people that have it happen to them I will tell you a little about my moms experaises, (sorry about my spelling as thats is my promlem)
My mother had a fall, hurt her head 1 year ago and lost her taste ans smell as well. It has been a nightmare for her. She lives in Australia and there is very little help here in the research of it, Look like more in the US, The doc's here can't tell her if it will come back or not but it is killing her, My mother is a person that love the taste of food and the smell of lanver and flowers air and so on. Now she is unable to expernices any of this. She has told me if the smell is very strong she thinks she can smell faintliy, She lives alone and worrys about gas or bureing has the kicken could be burning down and she would not even know it.
I see the pain and fruchtakion she is going though, Mom ask me if I could find a support group on the internet for her in Australia but there are none here. She dose not have the internet so can't use this sites Mom just wanted to write to some one about it some one that is going though the same lost as she needs to understand how to cope with it. Mon told me every thing she tastes is like dry cardboard. How horerable to think.
Mon is 70 years old now. the fall was in the bathroom she is a fit young 70 yo person she looks like in her 60s, But there has to be a ancer to this has to be some help for people with this , Thank you for reading this.

I wish I could 2 years and one month that mine has not come back. I understand your depression. I am going to see an ENT doc this month and I hope he can help me. I read deep heat ,heat ,cold ,sound electricity forces and light and ultra sound can help in some people. Taking Zine and copper can help. I am going to try A.S.A.P. I am at the end of my rope on this disease.
Two fractures to the skull life flighted Dec.20 2017 yet they can not believe I can walk and talk. Please let me smell and taste again!
