I haven't had all my cognitive functions back and never will. I see a Neuropsychologist who gave me 4 hours of testing. There are few, but still areas where I'm below normal. Don't rely on yourself to determine if cognitively your back unless a Dr. qualified in this area tells you. Also a TBI never goes away. It improves but never fades completely. My mood changes were happening often. But I'm bi-polar so my Dr. got me on the right meds. I am great now, but this will or may be something that sticks awhile. My psychiatrist told me that you cant compare your life now to before, but start over as the new you. Where you are right now in this moment going thru the rest of your life. I do that and could accept "me" better. I hate "drug hangover" and have had that but it didn't last beyond 2 weeks.

HI, I've never been on the med you're asking about , but am on medications for my mood. The mood disorder I have ( no name for it in the DSM) is directly a result of my head injuries . I used to get depressed at times ( 'situational depression" - certain things would cause the depression) . Another doctor had me on anti-depressants, but when I went to a new psychiatrist , she took me off them and put me on a mood stabilizer . It has worked wonders.

When you talk about Claritin, are your friends saying you're a bit vague or hard to understand ( your words, I mean, not whether you're slurring your speech).? I guess I don't know what you mean. However I have been on medications ( seizure ones in particular when I was younger ) that caused the "hangover" effect that would last the entire next day. I remember my mother telling me I was walking as though I was drunk. That was the medicine affecting me.

I've been on Amantedine for close to 5yrs. now. I take it so I can focus when people are talking. I would get really lost if someone was trying to talk to me and the TV was on. No focus, but it seems to help me with that. My mood can be really touchy now, as in. Their mood affects how my mood will be. Like if someone is mad or being hateful, it's like someone painted my butt red. I become so mean and hateful, it's bad. Hoping the best for you coexist03

Had a severe concussion 2 years ago and have had terrible problems including seizures.

All my cognitive functions are not back and was told they probably never will, have a very hard time thinking that but try to be positive and was also told this is the new you...well, don't like the new me!

The mood changes are bad too.
