Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.

Between Level 4 and Level 5

Hey guys I didn't know if anyone had any advice as how to deal with Level 4 and 5 of the El Rancho scale. My fiance just started to his these stages and I'm having a hard time trying to understand everything. I didn't know if any of you had advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

The reason you're getting no response is cuz most people including myself and Google have never heard of this scale.

Its for Traumatic Brain injuries I don't know how you wouldn't know the scale its a Cognitive Function Scale ranging from Coma to active. So I don't know how no one on here would know. Personally its probably because not very many people are active on here

Well thanks for explaining what it's all about, especially since I couldn't find it on Google. Years ago I had a traumatic brain injury too, and I can't remember anybody mentioning this scale then. Perhaps they did while I was in a coma for a week.

Well since my TBI made my life a living hell and I don't know where I fit on that scale it's worthless to me.

Hi I might be able to help!! My traumatic brain injury was when I was 4 and I was in a coma for 3 1/2 weeks and then 2 years ago I was in another coma for 3 1/2 weeks...the only thing about the coma 2 years ago was I could remember everything my family, my mom, the nurses and the doctors said and when I came out of the coma the nurses didn't even have to introduce themselves to me because I already knew them.

If you want to know anything that I can tell you just write to me I'll get it and if I don't know the answer my mom will because she was by my side the entire time I was in the hospital when I was 4 years old and two years ago...,she saved my life when I was 4 and in the coma I was in the P.I.C.U. and my mom was there stroking my right leg like usual when she saw my monitors flat line and she saw no one around me...good thing she was a nurse...so while she was doing CPR she's screaming "CODE BLUE, CODE BLUE" on of the nurses came and they got me back to breathing but if my mom had not been there I would have been dead. So if you have any questions that I can't answer I will ask my mom or my sister Sage...she is a doctor!!!
