Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.
I went to my Mom's for my birthday last week. While I was there my grandad need to go to the doctor an hour and a half away. My mom had the flu, so I got to go spend the day with my grandmother. Bless her sweet heart she has Alsthymers.
She told me the same things a hundred times and asked the same questions just as many times. I'm really thankful that I was having a 'good day'.
All I could do was answer the same answer everytime she asked the question or try to look as just as interested the everytime she told me the same story.
I remember putting my hand to her cheek and looking into her bright blue eyes, and being amazed at the the lines that crisscrossed her ancient face. She was in there somewhere. The same woman that taught me hwo to care for others less fortunate than me. The same woman that never denied me a chance to go out back and pick 'something good' out of the strawberry patch.
All I could do was love her and thank God for every day I have left with her.

Bless my poor husband, he lives with me everyday and I am just as bad as she is sometimes. I am glad you all liked the story and appreciate how this desease affects others. It shocked me to see this. My husband tells me when I have days like this. But to actually see it in someone else is shocking.
