Brain Injury Support Group
Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.
There is so much great first hand info here in the past threads and posts, I would also suggest reading as many as you can, because BI affects us all differently and I learned alot from just reading other's experiences along with finding new coping skills.
Also a site brainline.org has some real good info that may help you. You are working alot of hours this summer, will that go down in the fall, so you can find out if full-time was just too many hours?? We understand here how hard this journey is....healing often takes much more time, even tho we may *look ok* maybe invisible on the outside...not on the inside....very frustrating!! Crying, irritability, brain overload shows up different ways.
Please vent, ask questions, you are among friends who understand and care. I hope you get more input. Take good care...rest as much as you can...keep coming here!! Blessings
Like you my injury was in 2011 and I am still dealing with the after effects. I'm still suffering many of the symptoms you describe; particularly irritability and trouble sleeping. Along with these I now have cluster/migraine headache, light sensitivity, a condition called "Vertical Heteraphoria" and everything tastes salty. I will get dizzy and nauseous if I stand, or turn, to quickly. Like many of us I maintain an illusion of normalcy by adapting my behavior(s) so as to not aggravate my condition. I don't really have any advice. I just wanted you to know that you weren't alone.
