Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.
Hi-I've got a couple of questions. I went for my job interview, and then they had me come into the doctor's office to do some filing, for a day- I guess to see if I can do it. It went fine until I had to either reach real high, or bend down low to put a file in it's place. I got really dizzy, but I couldn't let the people know who were around me, cause that would not look very good on a trial work day. I'm still waiting to hear if I got the job-apparently there were a lot of people also trying for the job. If I were lucky enough to get a job, what can I do to overcome the dizziness? Sometimes it is caused just by my eyes moving-my head can be perfectly still, but if I look from one direction to another, I'm dizzy. I have an appt. with my opthomologist in a couple weeks. Also, when I am reading, it sometimes feels like my eyes are moving back and forth really quickly on their own. I have to stop reading and close my eyes for a little while until the feeling stops. Something that is new is problems with my long term memory. I have had problems with my short term memory since the fall, and the doctors are aware of that. But recently, I have been forgetting things that happened quite a while ago. For instance, my daughter (26yrs old) and I were having a discussion. She started talking about a time when a friend of hers from college came here for 4 days. It was a guy, so you know that I would be super focused on what they were doing. Well, I have no recollection of this visit whatso ever. She told me about stuff they did, and things I did. And I absolutely have no memory of that. Also, recently, when talking with my brothers and sisters, many of the things they have brought up about our experiences years ago, are totally gone from my brain. Has anyone had any experiences like this? I'ts been 3 months since my fall, and I should be feeling better, and not developing new symptoms, right? Would this long term memory thing be related to the fall? What can I do to overcome this? I'll call the doctor on Monday, but I'm finding this pretty upsetting. My head still hurts to touch where it hit the cement floor, and I still get pains and headaches. I was hoping to be feeling better by now, but nothing has changed, and new stuff is happening. It sounds like PCS, Post Concussion Syndrome. It can be mild, moderate or severe. I am bordering the mild to moderate with daily headaches with some being severe as migraines. I take a bunch of meds and I hate it. But, it is better then it once was. I still get pain each day and everyonce in a while I will get a better then typical day that I can do things around my house.
