Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.
Hi - I'm new here. It is good to see that there is a place for people with head/brain trauma to gather.
I have had 3 major head traumas since 1993. The first one resulted in my having 47 stitches in my head and two fractured vertebra. The last accident, in 2001, resulted in a brain hemorrhage, 5 broken ribs, a broken collar bone and a collapsed lung. While I have healed from the broken bones (as much as was possible) I have found that I continue to have some mental impairment - I think.
I have trouble with focusing - it seems that I get irritated easily when I attempt fo do ordinary tasks that require focus. I had not understood my confusion until I read the posts here. Now i get it - I was damaged badly in that last accident.

Its sad but true most doctors will be able to fix the broken bones while the brain unjury goes on and is un diagnosed and un treated.
Once we have one brain injury we are much more likley to suffer from another if in an accident ect..
That is what has happend to you and it is sad , seems 3 times now you have gone through it un treated .
You have done well to get this far and you have made a great move by finding this group.
