Hi, I am new here. I do not have BPD, but have met someone who does. If I want to be a friend, I will need to learn a bit about this and learn HOW to treat them and how to behave around them and what I can do to make them comfortable.

I am new to this group as well. i dont have BPD but have a friend who does. I am a student in a masters degree program for mental health counseling. I never learned about BPD so I bought some books and began learning for myself to help my friend. She is living with me for the past four months now. She was on alcohol and drugs before she moved in but has not drank for awhile as well as take drugs. However, she is on meds for her ADD. She asks me each day to give her an extra pill but I wont because I know she cannot have more than is prescribed for her. I dont quite understand how she feels but know at times she feels depressed, is afraid of abandonment, and thinks everyone is talking behind her back. I am the only real friend she has ever had and I am at a point where I dont know what else to do to help her. I told her to go into rehab but she doesnt want to. I am stressed out cause she keeps asking me for different medications that I know is bad for her. I had to lock up all medications that are in the house including bendaryl because she will take a handful of them although she claims they will not kill her. I need to know what to do and how to go about this to help her without making things worse.
