I would most definitely keep your books!! There are in essence your children, your escape from the crazy world, your lifeline. I know my books are for me. Maybe you could find a little bookshelf and once you get organized you could display a portion of your books at a time, say by favorites, or by subject.

I know how you feel. I love to have my books at a moments touch. I don't want to have to search for something. I want it right there where I am!!

I have a load of books too. So does my husband. Our house looks like a library. Every now and then, I try to go thru them and get rid some of them. I keep my favorites. My problem is, I have so many books I haven't read and want too. Wish I could read faster.

you can never ever have two many books. i would put them in to like an attick or storage shed for like six mounths that way when you go back to them it will seem like they are new. it will also give you time to get new books.

I am a book hoarder too. I even take home a huge pile from the library whenever I go. I feel bad for people who don't read...think of all that spare time wasted! I agree with angelIndisgus...keep a few of your favorites out, and store the rest for when you have the space again. Love those books!!

I love books and have hundreds which i wont part with , some people go clothes shopping i would rather go book shopping !!! and like Suev when i go to the library i come away with a great pile !!...One of my favourite sites on the internet is Amazon , you can buy new or used books there for a 1p plus postage and package, not sure what that is in American money !!....its like a treasure chest for me !!

When i moved in with my now ex, I ditched maybe 40% of my books as we really didn't have room. Now we've split I realise I do have a load of books still, but want my old books back! I missed my sci-fi and coffee table books, and especially the slightly incomprehensible books on the universe and religion. Books may help be get through this tough part of my life.

In 2002 our house burned down and my books didn't make it. Besides some of my daughters mementos, they are what I missed most. I had the whole series of John Jakes books-The Kent Family Chronicles. The unabridged version of Far From the Madding Crowd. I am building up my library again. I found a childrens book, Put Me In The Zoo by Robert Lopshire, and when I saw it the sheer emotion I felt...I almost started to cry because it took me back to my childhood and the joy I had in reading it. I have it in a special spot in my room.

i adore books and will keep buying them even though my bookcase is totally full, I am hoping to move out of my parents place soon so that I can keep all of them on bookshelves as right now they are strewn all over the house, (in the attic,under beds, even in the garden shed!)

I love my books. I have a very small book shelf to display them. So a lot of them are boxed up carefuly under my bed. I get them out now and again and rotate them. I know sad. But icouldnt bare to get rid of any of them.

I agree books are hard to part with, but when we downsized I had no choice. I have a bookshelf next to my bed with all my library and "want to read" books. Also I have a large bookshelf for oversized books. I made piles of my books for keep, donate, and give to someone. I still have tons of books, but I hear from people that the book I gave them is wonderful. I only ask that the book be passed on to someone they think will enjoy it. The poor elder man at the library book store had to pry the box out of my hands when I brought them in to donate. It is so hard to let go! Some books I will never ever part with! I even have 30 years of National Geo in cases. This is a sickness, but I love it.

This has always been a big question for me. Do I get rid of books or keep them, mostly I keep them. A few years ago, I took some to the charity shop because I had bought them when I was drunk and there was no way I would have bought/read them when sober.

I cannot understand people who read a book and then give it away. My books have been my comfort for a lot of my life - nothing like getting back into and old favourite when life feels a bit too much to handle!

I have bookcases wherever they will fit in my house and at some time, I will have to find some more space but I doubt I will be able to bring myself to get rid of any!

I can never see virtual books replacing an actual 'hold it in your hands and feeling it' book!
