My 21-month old son is going to be undergoing a BMT next month due to a highly rare genetic immunological blood disorder. When I say rare, I mean he is the only diagnosed case of this condition in the USA.
His four-year-old brother is the donor. Is there anyone in this group whose family member is currently undergoing BMT or will be this year? Just looking for any suggestions or advice for coping.
My son who is eight was also diagnosed with a genetic immune disorder. We are told that he is the only one they know of in the world with this condition.
We are scheduled for his BMT at the end of this month. As I know you know, we are very concerned but hopeful. Is there any advice you can share. He is having the BMT at Children's Hospital Philadelphia.
