Lonely bisexual man

I am 45. Bisexual and a nice guy. Never found someone special. Not even close. Dates were rare even when no one knew I was bisexual. Now that I am out, dates have disappeared completely. I have never been into one night stands. Would be faithful too. But seems no one wants to date a Bi man who is nice. Only bi men over 35 in relationships I have heard of found their partners before they were out. I am too out for that. I have crossed the Rubicon so to speak. Since have not been into one night stands, there is no sex in my life either. Just what I can do alone. Few real friends, and those I have, are not the sort of friendships where we hang out or anything. They are married and such. So I do everything alone. Dinner, theatre, everything alone. Saw Gigi at the Kennedy Center last night alone. Spent my birthday alone last week.
So tired of the loneliness but don't see how it will get better.
Breaks my heart but I only see loneliness in my future.
I even run a Bisexual group that is for social interaction and support for bi people. But hasn't helped my social life outside it.

I feel for you brother. We can't help who we are sexually. There are so many of us out there that are looking for a relationship. I would suggest going into gay sites to find someone. (GRINDR). most guys are looking just for sex but there are others like myself looking for more.

Often times when you come out the public is not understanding being that they have grown to know you one way. Having to adjust and often being slow to warm with their own identities is what they have to come to terms with. I do feel that in time you will find love, someone accepting to how you feel. The key is being honest up front, this way you have room to move and not waste time with investing too much of yourself which is taxing enough. You'll be fine

I agree with NOVAXMAN about the social apps. I liked OK Cupid and was attracted to a lovely pre-op Transsexual. We chatted for almost a year before we finally met. She was very shy and not out at the time.
We have been going steady for six months now and things are great! She came out in January.

You have to find a way to be in contact with other like-minded people and the apps are one way to do it. Unfortunately, there are a lot oif people who are looking for fast hook-ups and I felt that there was less of that on OK Cupid. Look for ways to socialize and inter act with others such as LGBT associations and activities.

Good luck and don't give up. I am 57 years and am having the time of my life. You can do it!

I don't think your loneliness has anything to do with your bisexuality. You mentioned you run a bi-group for social interaction, make these people your social life. Or can they not allow them to be your friends because you want to live like a "socially acceptable/normal" individual. If that's the case you might want to talk to a therapist about that.

I'm sorry you are going through this. It is a lot harder to meet people when you are older. I don't think it's because you are bisexual, if anything that will make you friends as it's an identity to have in common with other LGBT folks

What I have found helpful in meeting people (I am 39) is taking workshops in field I find interesting, like writing or performance art, taking classes, and staying connected to the LGBT community if there is one in your location. I do this by going to events and participating in queer groups and performance art workshops.

If that doesn't work or isn't available in your town, there are always Internet friendships. Participate in forums like this and Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, whatever appeals to you. Sometimes by putting yourself out there on the Internet you can form very real friendships that give a lot of solace in hard times.
