Bisexuality Support Group
Bisexuality is a sexual orientation which refers to the aesthetic, romantic, and/or sexual attraction of individuals to other individuals of both their own and the opposite gender or sex. Most bisexuals are not equally attracted to men and women, and may even shift between states of finding either sex exclusively attractive over the course of time.
My best friend was straight though, he put it this way - if another man asked him out on a date he would be flattered, but he would think of it like just a really (really) ugly girl.
I still do care for him, but our relationship is platonic, and he's gone in a different direction now. He became atheist - which I am willing to accept but it just seems like we've grown more apart since my spirituality, although not exactly traditional - is still very important to me.
Don't LDS folks have a strong policy against homosexual behavior? Maybe that is why she made the comment that it would have to be before her mission trip..maybe in her mind she is committing to the faith more fully by going through that experience.
I think many good friends probably have this issue if they have been with each other for a long time. Or at least maybe the thought might've crossed their minds at least once.
Straight people can be affectionate with the same sex as well, but they may not be interested in a sexual relationship.
I guess you have to ask yourself how open minded your friends are? In the work situation - do you see each other outside of work? If the situation got weird, could you move on to a new job? Supervisor/subordinate relationships are usually prohibited by HR policy for good reasons.
My one female friend at work made it known through casual conversation with friends that she trusts that she thought one of the female singers at an awards show is hot, and she's made other similar comments every once in a while that lead me to believe she was open to admiring the female form.
Of course, being bisexual myself I don't have an issue with it and that just makes the straight guys at work laugh and think harder about the female form.
I am not saying this to judge - I would like to think that people who are confident in themselves wouldn't feel threatened by a long time friend admitting feelings. The only time when I could think they would question it is if either of you are already in a committed relationship with another person.
