Bisexuality Support Group
Bisexuality is a sexual orientation which refers to the aesthetic, romantic, and/or sexual attraction of individuals to other individuals of both their own and the opposite gender or sex. Most bisexuals are not equally attracted to men and women, and may even shift between states of finding either sex exclusively attractive over the course of time.
I do hope with my heart that you grow back to being more accepting of your sexuality. F**k your ex gf! The world is truly a messed up place, and the worst thing in my opinion is to give in to the hurt that it can inflict on you. Otherwise, game over -- what's the point of living, then? It's so imperative to keep your chin up, okay?
Hug?
Be confident in who you are as a person and the right one will find you. If you like/love two people maybe you are capable of sustaining a polyamorous relationship? Have you considered that as a possibility? There are others out there that can, too. Someone out there can understand you, but you have to let them in, in order for them to know you. Understanding comes with time and knowledge, it's not going to happen overnight.
There is someone out there for each of us. Finding them can be a challenge sometimes, but well worth the quest. Be patient, when it is meant to be it will happen. I've been there, too.
As for your gay friends not supporting you, I'm actually beginning to wonder (as I mention below) if lesbians aren't fully okay with bisexual women. I think the same might be thought for the gay community. It's unfortunate but sadly it's reality. :/
Thank you for the supportive thoughts. I hope that I'm more accepted as well by my future partners. I think I'm going to try really hard to be more firm when it comes to my sexual orientation.
Dragonlove75: I actually am polyamorus. My ex knew about it when we met, but considering she is vanilla and 100% lesbian, she wasn't into it and in order to pursue things further with her I needed to only be with her. When she and I first got together she knew I was with a guy already and dealt with it. After things between him and I soured, I wanted to be more serious with her but I knew she wasn't okay with me being poly. So I made the decision of my own free will, but there were times where I wished I could go back to how things used to be. I do miss him and now I admit I'm feeling torn about what I should do but that's a problem I have a really hard time talking about.
If she and I ever did try things again, I know that I'd go about it differently. I do care about her immensely, but I can't help what I am.
I know that there are lots of people out there that I might find happiness with. I'm thinking that I won't date "vanillas" anymore because of this, because I want my sexuality to be understood and respected.
As for the lesbian community, I'm actually wondering if there are issues within it against women who are bisexual. It seems that things are handled differently. Maybe I should pose this topic of lesbian vs bisexual women in one of the lesbian groups I'm in.
Don't give up.
Because of my feelings from my current situation I know that in any future dating situations I get myself into I need to really reinforce the subject of my orientation because I don't want to be misunderstood by others.
Your writing of your polyamorous orientation reminds me of my own preferences back when I was an underclassman in college. I was proudly touting to one of my straight female friends that maybe people aren't meant to love just one person. In practice, though, I've never acted on my polyamorous leanings, mainly because I've never had a serious relationship that lasted more than two months! So that's another issue of mine...
