Hmm.. this is a tough one. The way I see it, you have 2 choices. The first being, you can wait, keep your bisexual-self surpressed until you're ordained, then start you're own church and let them know that it is okaay to love god and both sexes. The second choice is that you could maybe switch denominations? Find one that would be more willing to accept you.

If God has called you to do something, He will provide a way. I think that switching denominations is probably a very good idea. There are definitely churches that are more accepting of LGBT. Many Christians are in the exact same position as yourself, afraid to be honest in their own church for fear of being judged and persecuted. I believe, though I've met few of them, that there are many Christians who are taking a closer look at scripture, and reevaluating what they've been taught to believe. I think that you have come a long way by accepting yourself and realising that God made you this way. If He wants you to become a pastor, then you'll be a bisexual pastor. Your sexuality is a gift, not a cross to bear, or obstacle to be overcome. Believe me, God made you bi for a reason. Don't ever doubt it. I don't think you should ever come out in your church, though. It sounds like it would only stir up trouble for yourself, and get a bunch of people's backs up about LGBT.

I have thought about changing denominations but I am a United Methodist thru and thru there is no changing that just like there is no changing that I am a Bisexual. There is one person in my denomination who knows this and while it helps to talk with her she can't compleatly understand because she is a only a parent of a lysbien. I will admit there may come a time when they will change this rule. This up coming year there will be a disscusion about it at general confrence and there will be a vote on it. Many people are for it to change. Which is great. But there are also many who are not. I find it hard because I can't tell my family if I wanted to to come out because they too would not support me for who I am. I can't tell anyone in the church family because.... well as most of you know thats just not a good idea. I hate being so confused.

I understand your loyalty to your church, but it doesn't seem to be working for you. Jesus wasn't United Methodist, or Southern Baptist, or Roman Catholic, or any other denomination. He believed in unity, not denominations. If your church is discriminating against you because of something that is beyond your control, you need to find another church. I personally think that its very important for every Christian to experience other denominations first hand. Otherwise, how do you really know you're in the right place if you've never been anywhere else?

You could change denominations, but honestly, it depends on the specific church. I went to a United Methodist church until my teens, and one of the most involved members, a married mother, used to always give me Christian youth magazines. One of them specifically featured an article about gay Christian teens, which I remember being relatively positive -- and this was back in the 80's! (Maybe she thought I was gay -- I didn't have any awareness of it at the time).

So maybe you can keep your sexuality under wraps to protect your reputation. If it's worth it to you, also consider the logistics of keeping this information contained. Many bisexuals are able to conceal their sexuality by only pursuing relationships with members of the opposite sex. Some find this too difficult, and find ways to have clandestine same-sex trysts and romances. Just remember, you will be at the mercy of anyone who is aware of your sexuality; if they are vindictive they can always use their power to "out" you as leverage.

That said, I believe that Episcopalians are known to be the most progressive when it comes to alternative sexualities; I've known Episcopal churches to ordain gay people. I don't know where you live, but regional differences definitely exist when it comes to religious attitudes about sexuality. I hope you are able to make a choice that works for you.

I find that it depends on a lot of things not just the denomination but the church people, the pastor and yourself. I maybe finally say ok this is who I am but at the same time I am still struggling with myself on the fact to accept me. I like talking face to face with people but don't want come out right now. I am not ready for that. The hard thing is finding someone who is kinda like me that I can talk to with out exposing who I am. If that makes since at all.

I am seriously sooo glad you posted this! Personally if You think GOd is calling you to pursue this then pursue it. The way I see it we are all chilren of God reguardless of where we may stand. YEs it is seen as wrong but that doesn't change your heart from Him. So many people turn away from God because they think that there is no hope jsut because of the LGBT issue int he church. But where did we go wrong in Christianity to deny someone to spread the word of God to others. I think it'll take time to be fully open about being a christian and being bisexual but you not alone. I live my likfe the way god intends for me and he has a plan in store for us all. And just like jermiah 29 expains he Knew you before you were even born. It will work out. i know how you feel. im not becoming a pasteur but ive been a faithfull christian since 4. ui go to a christian club that say im going to burn in hell if i act on my feelings. I dont know what to do.

People who say we are going to burn in hell really don't know what they are talking about in my opinoin. Lets face it Jesus spent time with us weirdos! Thats who he picked not the High Priest.

Think about why you are a Christian in the first place: is it because you comb through the Bible looking for rules you can accuse people of breaking? My guess is no. People have the ability to tell the difference between right and wrong, whatever reasoning or justifications they use to defend to or condemn their actions or those of others. If you know in your heart that your feelings are not evil or destructive to you or anyone else, that is all that matters. Given how difficult it is to interpret writings from a century or 2 ago out of context, and that the books of the Bible have gone through multiple translations and reinterpretations over centuries and centuries, it seems nearly impossible that the entire original meaning and intent of the text was retained. Then also consider that the books were written by individuals who were interpreting God's word, probably influenced by their own biases.
