Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I took zyprexa for many years. Work with your doctor to determine the lowest effective dose at various points in your life. As I aged I needed less and less. Roughly speaking in my 30s I took 10mg/day. In my 40s 5mg. In my early 50s 2.5mg. When I retired I use it infrequently when my sleep deteriorates and I get toasty. Of course, everybody is different.
My biggest fear was that BP tends to get worse with age. My pdoc said the opposite is true, BP tends to get a bit better. He said whether its physical or learning to recognize and deal with BP symptoms is impossible to tell. Again, everybody is different.
Gym work or long walks help lots of water.
Good luck. :)
