psychologically it was brill.
the only side affect I had was weight gain.

if you snack on fruit insteada silly food, it should be fine...

It works great, I am much calmer and don't get as stressed about stuff. One of the side effects is I just don't have the creative spark that I used to have. Sometimes it feels like I am just going thru the motions, like a robot. Does anyone else experience this? I guess that is part of the trade off of going on a 'mood stabilizer'.

im hoping seroquel will keep me as level as I was starting to feel on zyprexa....
just dodgy time trying to find an equivalent doseage

It works for moi... i am good with a low dose... not too high and not too low...i get drowsy if i take too much

I took it for awhile and got the "hungries". I gained weight fast. I take seroquel now and it has caused some weight gain but over a slower
amount of time.

i gained sixty pounds in a month because i became obsessed with eating. be careful with that but otherwise it worked alright for a short time

Every person is different. There are people who have commented that Zyprexa worked great for them (although weight gain is a common complaint, Topamax is often rx to off set)
That being said, my 20 y.o. daughter had a very negative response to Zyprexa. She had been very manic. Seroquel didnt work out well, then Geodon was OK, but had a negative side effect. Then she was switched to Zyprexa. Almost instantly, she spiralled down into a horrible depression, with rage. She, her BF, and I all reported to her dr. that it made her worse. pdoc said *give it another week* following week, uncontrollable crying... reported it, told give it another week. End of 3rd week, suicidal... I started calling and sending emails to higher ups saying I was not about to let her take it another day. She was in outpatient program. Suddenly, that day, they decided she must be switched rapidly, put inpatient, at last, and changed meds.
Inpatient pdocs realized the atypical anti psychotics were not only not helping her, but making her worse. If only they listened sooner!
Moral of the story... try it, and if within a week or so, you seem more depressed, tell your doctor right away. If you dont seem worse, continue. It may work for you... but if not, speak up, LOUDLY!

I had a terrible reaction to it, impossible to get out of bed, it dealt with my emotions...well it shut off all emotions and all cognition, of course if it doesn't work you can always stop.
