Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

How were you dx'd with BP/Manic Depression?
I was on a magical mystery tour in my mind and body, just wild with no thoughts of safety. The first manic episode was in England at 18, alone at a boarding school. The next, after a 6 month battle, my Beloved Sister's death at just 35 years I was in hospital. Since then, depression has been my main battle.
This documentary by Steven Fry brings a wealth of compassion. The comments below profound with honesty and pain. My hope is that either the doc, or comments will bring you some comfort and understanding as you navigate each day the best as you can. Steven and the people he speaks with are very honest, at times very grafic about suicide.<3

I had been both manic and delusional for years by the time I was dx'd at age 21.
Everybody thought there was something Wrong with me, but not Mental Illness. I just needed a good slap in the face or something.
Then I divorced and got depressed, which no one had Ever seen, and I got sent to a shrink who dx'd me.
I guess that was pretty scary to be in an episode by yourself in another country (or maybe it Wasn't scary, which I understand, too)
I ended up seeing shadow people and hearing men talking in the bushes but I was still with it enough to know it wasn't real
I was in my early thirties
Thanks for sharing the very interesting Stephen Fry documentary. I really sympathized with the children.
