Why my profile doesn't say BP....

Hi all...

I'm jc....an infrquent poster who reads all the threads.

I did a very brief semi-history of my BP life somewhere in the midst of a thread a while back.
As some of you know..my main support group on DS is the Chronic Pain site.
And..I go back and forth with having BP listed as a support group..even though I'm still here.

For those who've wondered..
The reason there's no mention of BP in my profile is...
Having long-standing ongoing medical problems...I have encountered a lot of prejudice in the medical community in receiving treatment for physical health issues.
As I'm sure many of you have experienced...there's a tendency for physical problems to be dismissed as mental health issues. Especially for women.

So..I've tried to maintain them as seperate issues.
Although, God knows, they feed off each other.

I thank everyone who's been so welcoming in spite of my...
Reserve? ( not sure that's the right description..but..it'll do.)

I'd think that if you're having your physical illnesses dismissed then it's the fault of the doctor(s) you're seeing. You might want to shake that up.

I understand. I've had my BP dragged out and rediculed on other boards on DS but in my case I can't really hide it.

Another thought is you could have two profiles but I really don't think it's an issue that you are not a member - that only arises when someone is not actually BP because it tends to get people's backs up.

It's pretty much a non-issue now that I'm diagnosed..and I have some great docs. Trust me..I have no problem " she king that up"..:-)
It was just very difficult to contend with when in a great deal of pain.

Turned out...a number of people on the CP board are BP as well.
It's never been a question of keeping a secret here..
I just stay aware that this is a public domain.
That's horrible that you would be
ridiculed on DS for BP...but, not surprising in my view.

I personally don't care if it's listed or not. If you say you have it I believe you.

I'm not in the habit of checking up on each and every profile any how so I never would have known the difference. But I guess there are people out there that do.

I think it's completely up to you and what you're comfortable with sweetie.. Some here are completely open with it and others have found it better in their circumstances to keep it quiet..

Shucks I like the She King better than shaking. I think I'll borrow that term. She King things up a bit. LOL :) Seriously I like it.

Is the CP board listed on the groups or is it a non listed what I call sub group? I have chronic pain also.
