Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
You can't change anyone and you can't make them listen to you.
The only person that can change in this situation, that you have control over, is you.
Sorry you're feeling ignored. Have you tried a different approach? Your husband and son have to create their own relationship. I know as Moms we want to help each of them in order to have the relationship work more smoothly but sometimes that just doesn't happen. It's not your fault.
Start collecting data with you son regarding his nagging. Keep a log of when he nags so you can all see how often he actually does it. Also, when he speaks in a whiney voice, stop in your tracks and help him to practice making the same request but in a more tolerable voice.
I hope you and your hubby can work together (not one obeying the other) to help with your rocky relationships. Hang in there. It can get better!
like a balanced and alert way of communicating with people that kinda puts them on their toes but not in a 'bad' way.
having smart ass responses helps when people are trying to put too much responsibility on your end....but you have to be kinda careful and add a 'dash of sugar' so to speak sometimes so it doesn't just lead to fights.
one way i have seen someone avoid confrontation or being brought down is just to do their daily tasks and not let anyone dissuade them from their time for themselves...work, rest...etc.
and just kind of go along with or cheerfully deflect 'negative' behavior.
just not caring, really helps...because all of a sudden individuals realize they have to care for themselves. setting your boundaries and doing only what you have agreed to do in your own mind, and going no further.
self preservation!
Inpart I divorced my formor because he would try to suck me into anguements ( that was his attempts to justifie his behavior ).
