I think the reason that they don't always tell people a lot unless it's a drug withdrawal that will basically effect everyone on it is that what may effect one person doesn't effect another so they don't want to amp you up for the worst
I can't be on the 'higher' meds either... I stop sleeping.... I'm on Tegretol.... It's one of the older drugs/stabilizers but it's worked for me for over 20 years and it helps with sleep... It may be worth a try?

I'd be pissed off too. I'm being weaned off zyprexa...1/2 dosage for 5 days, then 1/4 dosage for 5 days. So far, no withdrawl symptoms. It's a slow process. NEVER stop a med abruptly. Your pdoc is an ass, he knows better.

Be lucky that you didn't gain enormous weight and get diabetes, as some people did. I know a woman that happened to on zyprexa.

I wonder if part of the reason they rarely tell us the side effects or withdrawal effects, is to not plant ideas in our heads. I was on Zyprexa and it really wasn't helping, except for sleep. I quit cold turkey, and never had an issue. So we are all different. Although I think it might be slightly unethical not to tell us these things.

I remember with prednisone, I was put on high doses for asthma for years. On and off. It really triggered my bipolar symptoms. I never knew that was normal. (No internet in those days!). One day, after treatment for asthma in the ER, a doctor told me I needed to go back on prednisone. He was the first doctor that told me all the side effects. I started crying, and he asked me if I was depressed. I said, not before he told me I had to go on prednisone. That is a drug I have had to go on and off, (this time, I've been on it for 2 years, and finally almost weaned off.). But knowing what to expect helped me.

Pdocs never seem to tell us these symptoms. I was so complex, one pdoc gave me the CPS, the Canadian pharmaceutical "bible" that doctors and pharmacists use. I went home and looked up every drug I was on, and found out the antihistamines I was taking for asthma were causing elevated liver enzymes, and when I stopped it, my enzymes went down making a lot of other meds possible for me.

I am glad these days we have the tools at our finger types to find out what is going on. Be glad you are not back in the "dark ages" of medicine, when doctor was god, and they didn't tell us a single thing, except "take your meds."

Worst part is I called my pdoc nurse since Monday and she has not returned my call. I am so pissed. I took Restoril to sleep last night at 6:45 and finally fell asleep at 9:30 and woke up at 4:45, so better than nothing, then I fell like I woke up kind of hypo. I think the Latuda still is not stabilized in my system yet. I am going to continue taking it for its only been 4 weeks. I have an apt Monday with the nurse, and she's is going to get an earful.

I used to think doctors cared more about their property portfolio's than their patients and regarded them very poorly... there are good ones out there to be found though. Hope this one is more to your liking.

I think finding the right psychiatrist requires a lot of thought on both parties part...a good pdoc will ask the right questions and will collaborate. Also the trial and error aspect is frustrating in every sense, no matter how great of a doctor you find. That's where I lean on support group friendships to talk to patients who also understand the frustrations of med changes. My pdoc understands how much I hate med changes and acknowledges my frustrations with all those complications and that's all I can ask from him while he does his job.

I had to leave work die to exhaustion, my mind racing but im physcivally exhausted dont know what to do. Maybe i dont need meds.
