Take them to your local pharmacy & they will dispose of them for you. Well that's what you do here anyway. Not sure if it's different where you are. The pharmacy should be able to dispose of them for you or at least point you in the right direction of what to do with them.

We take ours to the Police dept!!!!

Where I live, there's a day every 6 months or so where you take all your old meds to the police department and they dispose of them. Personally? I admit to throwing some out (eek) but I don't have hoards lying around. Next time around, I'll bring my old meds to the police....

The pharmacy can dispose of them... I've never heard of taking them to the police dept before!! but it makes sense as well.. They take care of illegal drugs all of the time

Go to a pharmacy.

I agree with going to the pharmacy over the police department! Our pharmacies have huge signs near and on the day of disposal at the police dept. so I'm not sure if my pharmacy would take them.... good thing to ask about though!

You have to pay at the pharmacy for a mail away disposal system. The police station is the best place to take them in the US. We have a precinct that will take them at any time. Some places you have to look for the specific dates...I think on DEA.gov (I think)

Yeah, one pdoc told me to throw them out with coffee grounds.

SUN Never flush your meds. What the hell were they thinking?. It can contaminate our water supply.

When bringing to the Police dept, you have to remove your name from the bottle but keep on the bottle what the med is.

Well, I took my old meds to the pharmacy and they told me to flush them..... ain't that helpful !

I've read, if you can, crush them up a bit . If you have old used coffee grounds, mix the meds in that and dispose.

I guess if you don't drink coffee you could put the old meds in a plastic bag and place them in your wet garbage { not re-cycle stuff }

You could call the Pharmacy and see what they say first. Maybe put in a tight container and dispose in your trash. Just thoughts.

I actually just sent a message to my friend who's a pharmacist. I thought maybe he would know.

So my pharmacist friend said he tells people to fill up a laundry detergent bottle with coffe grounds or cat liter and throw it out with the regular garbage.

Holy Cow! I just throw mine in the garbage. What's wrong w/that?
