Okay so I have had Kaiser for almost a year now and every month they have been late with my medication. It would cost me $50 to go to the ER to get the medication on time. I have tried to talk to my pdoc about this problem but she wont put any refills on my Klonopin so every month it has to be re-authorized. That means it take at least a day if not more to get filled blah blah blah. If I try to fill the prescription even a day before 30 days I get treated like I am a drug addict. This is very stressful to me. I have been on klonopin for 5 year at the same dose. I am not developing a tolerance and it is about the only medication that has made any difference in treating my anxiety. She also forced me to take Lamictal saying she was going to take me off the klonopin if I didn't. Then she left on maternity leave and I was left with some on call guy who always took his sweet ass time re-authorizing my new prescription.
Now is it me or is this malpractice? My mom wants to take legal action! I am already stressed because I don't have any medication to take. It was supposed to be filled on the 25th. I have to short myself every month by taking halves just to get by. I had enough to last till yesterday when I was so sure it would be filled. But alas no... and it still hasn't been filled. What am I supposed to do. All kaiser has offered me so far is pills. I have asked till I was blue in the face to see a therapist but all they offer me is a free service open to the public at large called "access". With all their certified psychotherapists on staff at Kaiser I don't see why I cant have individual therapy with one of their own.
My mom pays $1300 a month for this crap! I feel horrible too that I am always complaining but I know she understands. She wont even go see a kaiser DR. because she hates Kaiser! With all the money problems and stuff I just feel so awful that I have to ask for more every month. I mean how am I supposed to get a job if I am having anxiety because they wont fill my F%&*^ing meds! and if that wasn't enough, to deny me any therapy? I don't get it! I feel like I am being seriously wronged here!

I do need to find a new Pdoc though. I was trying to stick with one because you know how they get when you switch really fast..."oh she's just looking for the one who will write the scripts SHE wants" Yea people I know what works for me! I've been doing this longer than you've been a psychiatrist!
Oh yes venting helps! My mom is stressing me out by being stressed and my friend is at work. Sorry you have to go through it all too!
But that is going to affect how the med is dispensed and thus strict regulating of it. Some places won't even give it out (like some free clinics)
But I would bring this Catch22 up with your doctor cuz it might come up again with someone else. It might not just be your doc; it might be how Kaiser does things as a rule.
towritegina- LOL... yea I spend most of my time cleaning and being productive....in all the wrong ways :b HAHA actually I feel pretty good about where I am at. I can cope so much better now.
Like yesterday...I was withdrawing from klonopin and my sisters 2 year old was having a crazy tantrum. I just excused myself, cried in my bed, gave myself a pep talk, and then spent the rest of the night hanging out. Before I would have not had that kind of self control :D I am proud of myself!
But in all seriousness you can only use kaiser pharmacy if you have kaiser so my pharmacist IS part of the problem. Looking through the kaiser yellow pages to see if their is a better fit in the pdoc department. I think i just had bad luck with this one.... not as bad as the last one who prescribed me a med that cancelled out my birth control and neglected to tell me. WOW was that ever fun...
Oh, and my friend has problems with Kaiser pharmacy all the time. I never did though. But they are kind of a mega-company so sometimes it can mean they do things in kind of a drive-through kinda way.
