What are the medicine for hypomania in BP2

I am going through a season of hypromain even though I am diagnosed BP2. What meds are generally used to deal with this?

Lexapro , maybe , I'm BP I , so all I know is my own experiences with mania and psychosis....some one who is BP II, will be along shortly with some info for you

From what I know, a BPII diagnosis will include hypomania. Since anti-psychotics are the treatment for hypermania/psychotic mania they should really do the job on hypomania. Your doc is your friend.

Beeper 2 ( at least until I ask my pdoc about my diagnoses on Thursday a reassessment if you will) Anyway Beeper 2 here answer Risperdal but it is a weight gainer for sure. Brought me down rather quickly.

Hi, I'm BP2 rapid cycling.

I take TrileptalIsimilar to Tegretol) and Abilify. Both were needed to control my hypomania. Oh what a difference I feel on meds.

Go see a psychiatrist!

That is the best way to receive both accurate diagnosis and prescription meds for bipolar. Non prescription meds can help you, but very little.

It's long been held that Lithium is the "gold standard for Bipolar treatment". And Lithium addresses the high side of Bipolar, ie Hypomania or mania. Because it does that, it also helps stop the whole Bipolar cycle, ie the plunge into depression, the mixed states, rapid cycling, psychosis etc, although those all need to be medicated specifically too. I have been on Lithium and a heap of other drugs for years and I would swear by it, and even though it destroys Thyroid function and I have to take a drug called Thyroxine to address that.
