Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

So uhhh I'm taking a bootyload of vitamins right now. I mean. In all honesty pill vitamin supplements are pretty questionable scientifically seeing as you p*ss out most of the actual nutrients, but it's better than nothing, I hope.
Recently I went to the vitamin shoppe and there was this ancient little whistlin' old man there and I told him about my comatose exhaustion (particularly after I eat, so I just avoid eating until I no longer can), and he said it sounds like hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar. And that he has it, and takes chromium for it.
So along with some other stuff I bought some chromium. It seemed to work well the first day but the subsequent day I fell right the hell asleep after a meal, after taking a handful of vitamins which I thought would give me more awake-ness. Sigh. Anyway.
This is my current regimen.
-Gabapentin (Neurontin) 3 tabs per day (I'm not sure the doseage, yellow oblong little capsule things). Supposed to be all at once, but I prn it.
-Vistaril.
~vitamins:
-'Women's Living Green Liquid-Gel Multi' 3x day
-Chromium-GTF (glucose tolerance factor) 300mcg 2x day
-Vitamelts Hair-Skin-Nails (Biotin etc.)
-Vitamelts energy dissolving tabs, not more than 2 or 3 times daily
-Milk Thistle
-Ginkgo Biloba
-Hydroxycut drink mix on some mornings, I don't use it every day
-Ashwagangha (Withania Somnifera) for stress and brain function
-Melatonin at night if I can't sleep
-Ginger root tablets which. !!!! Gave me the runs. Be careful. It doesn't "calm" the stomach, it's a laxative. Don't be fooled.
So far I feel pretty good Idk. My episodes still occur when I'm triggered, which is usually by my family. I try not to go on tumblr or other social medias unless I'm markedly calm, so if I scroll past something outrageously heartless I can just feel like "lol whatever bro, you're cool".
Sleeping spells still hit me, but they seem less common. Idk. Ideally I'd do all this plus work out, but I just can't find the motivation right now to be honest. Ideally though, yea. I'd work out. I know there's not a "magic pill", but some effort/time/money invested into feelin' good and sharp is infinitely better than ignoring health problems.
Also. !!!!! This isn't health-relevant necessarily, but I've got to tell you guys something. Whatever you shave with, the Gilette creams or whatever in a can, switch to almond oil if you get the chance. My skin is criminally soft. And I never even thought to shave with oil? It's a very thick oil, not like baby oil. And it's naturally-derived. So all-around nice.
I'll conclude this with: Does anybody here take vitamins, with or without therapy, exercise, or medication? I'm not here to judge. I'm just curious.
How is everyone?
And sorry for the scare. Ehhhh. I was in a really low spot, I feel ok right now I guess. I'm too anxious to check the replies on my suicidal thread, but I'll get around to it. I forgot about it actually heh. Thank you everyone for your concerns and advice.

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

I take 4 grams a day.
It has smoothed things out for me .
If you buy it OTC, I would buy Flax Seed Omega 3, OTC Fish Oil may have high levels of Mercury
I see a sliding-scale clinic, but they don't do "narcotics", so no amphet salts or anything for sleeping spells/extreme lack of focus. It's basically just "lol oh well, what do people need strong meds for anyways".
So I was going to pay to go to a private place additionally, but I don't even have that left, and for just one visit, $300 or so is not worth it.
But I don't know of anything other than like Vyvanse or Concerta that'd keep me awake during the day. l: I'm just badly over-using caffeine right now and skipping meals because food makes me tired, but that's not cutting it.
Idk. Wow. What's it for, heart health, circulation, shiny hair, something like that?
Iunno. I heard fish oil gives you stink breath. I've never taken it. CoQ10 is the new craze, but what's it actually for? "Heart health" is kinda vague.
Has it helped you any?
I do not get fishy taste in mouth, or fishy burps .
Although this month I bought Omega 3 , made from Flax Seed...you get the same benefits
The Omega 3 works to smooth receptors in the brain...allowing natural dopamine and serotonin;s to work more effectively
I've been taking it for about 2 months , I have been feeling really good...quite stable and even ....happy

anything that actually works and is a stimulant can tip you into hypomania / mania
you need to be aware that with the herbals studies have shown that about 50% of herbal suppliments don't even contain the active ingredient. ie you you buy ginko it may not even contain ginko. Lots of contaminents were found though.

I was also on vit.D and thought it was raising my mood but when I got tested my dr. said I had high levels of vit.D so I quit those.
I take co-Q10 for heart health and it helps up your oxygen intake, Bcomplex and magnesium at night bc it's a natural muscle relaxant.
I can tell you right now though there is NO substitute for exercise. I had a tear in my right calf back at the end of November and haven't been able to exercise except for the calf muscles the physio gave me and I was used to exercising everyday and now I feel pretty shitty energy wise.
Thanks for the tip of almond oil to shave legs. I would love to have "criminally" smooth legs also!!
Glad you're feeling better. And I have sleeping bouts (like right now). I drink green tea throughout the day. Less jittery than more coffee (I have one cup coffee per day). Subtle, but a few cups is like a slow gentle lift. Easier on my nerves.
I take a lot of supplements too.
