Visual Hallucinations...Bugs...No sleep!!

I keep seeing bugs around my computer screen or desk. I have schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type, and I've been dealing with a little mania lately.I haven't slept but a few hours in several days. I'm new to this group and relatively new to my diagnosis, though issues preceded that. I'm on depakote, abilify, cymbalta, and klonopin, and I feel like the abilify isn't working hard enough as an ap to stop my hallucinations. I keep feeling itchy too, which is scaring me. I normally have auditory hallucinations. This is scaring me. Help.

I'm familiar with depakote and it should be controlling the bugs and mania. Otherwise I suggest talking to your doc. From my experience a good anti-psychotic should handle things nicely.

Abilify should be handling it, since it's an anti psychotic, and I agree depakote should as well. I'm not sure why my combo of drugs aren't working, unless it's a dose issue or the fact I'm also on an anti-depressant. I'll talk to my doc tomorrow, thanks.

I take Depakote. It's my main mood stabilizer. The Abilify should be handling the problem, as Abilify is an anti-psychotic. Talk to your Pdoc, you may need a dosage increase

I have similar visual hallucinations that I've found get worse with stress. I take Abilify and STILL have them. My p-doctor is switching me to Latuda which she says she's had greater success with than Abilify. Your problem, as others have suggested, may be a dose issue. I hope you get things figured out! I was having hallucinations until my pdoc increased my abilify. I take 15mg.

Hi and Welcome deschroma..... I would call your doctor... A med tweak should help this and is probably necessary

There are also people on the Schizophrenia board that have schizoaffective disorder so you may find you get some help and support on there

Lack of sleep has always made my symptoms come on strong...once I got my sleep regulated again with an AP things started returning to normal.

Hope you were able to talk to your pdoc.

I'm usually auditory also...I'm sorry you're going through this...HUGS!

Make sure you tell your doc about all the side effects and all the things that are going on for you.

I was prescribed 10 mg of ambien and it helped a lot. I got some sleep last night.

Ambien helps me too. I don't take it all the time, but find if I take one after some restless nights my sleep is reset again.

Glad you got some rest and hopefully are feeling better. I've only had auditory hallucinations. I can only imagine how bad visual ones would be. BIG HUGS!!

Good plan talking to your doctor. I am not one, but I agree it may be a dosage issue.

    Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
