Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I have been up and down for months now. January through the beginning of March I was in full blown crisis mode, then things started to calm down some. Since then I have been mostly depressed, but I am still experiencing the ups and downs of being a rapid cycling Bi-polar. Unfortunatly, my support system..........has been almost nonexistant. I haven't had an episode like this in 20+ years; since I was first diagnosed with BP disorder. I forgot what it felt like; the rage, the depression, the mixed state.........the numbness. Now I am married and have grown step children. When I started going through crisis.........everyone scattered to the wind....except for my husband who had no clue how to deal with me except to get mad at me and try to force me to get up and do things. "Get up and take a shower, you'll feel better" get up ang get moving...you'll feel better. Stop spending money! "Do this, don't do that" I have begged him for years to read up on BP disorder but, he never did. Since January he has gone to 2 support group meetings so he has a little better understanding of what's going on with me. But, I feel alone....I feel like a burden to my family. I know he would be better off without me. Without me, he wouldn't have as much stress or have to deal with a crazy wife but, I can't afford to be out on my own. I would never make it. I'm scared. I'm lonely. I AM tired and weak.
I'm supposed to start in a partial hospitalization program on Tuesday and I am petrified! I have never had to be hospitalized or in any other type of program so, I have no idea what it's going to be like except for all the prodding questions about my past. If anyone has any insight on this I would love to hear it. Any help or advice is appreciated.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

It's great that you're starting this program.... I was in a program at a hospital when I was first diagnosed and it was really wonderful..... I'm glad that you're here.... Another hug and a blessing.....xo
My own hospital stays have had allot more hours of pure boredom than prodding questions. When I opened myself to the program, I walked away from the hospital with a pocketful of new resources to help me build healthier ways to manage my symptoms. Nothing as fun as my own inventions, such as playing Spiderwoman on downtown office buildings, but healthier. . .
Hoping you get lots of good things out of your upcoming program.
Welcome to the forum.
So if the type of help available from the hospital doesn't work for you because you don't like the type of therapy or approach used maybe that means you will have to look for a more compatable person/situation with a different method?
That being said what do you have to lose? What do you stand to gain? Maybe make a more balanced decision after weighing the pros and cons as they occur. Best of luck and I hope you get what you need out of whats on offer.
