Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
But I don't feel bad if I'm not able to be friendly with some BP people. Unless our friendliness is reciprocated there's not much chance of relationship success. We do need to take care of ourselves first.
In my experience only, all bipolars seem to have a deep "connection" that is felt but not necessarily manifested, because we are all as different as anyone Else, outwardly. (Translation: walk into a room full of people with two bipolars, and you can pick out the bipolars in a Second, lol - however, you may find you have Nothing to talk about!)
Friends are friends, people are people and if you don't "fit" with someone, don't worry if it's "because of the bipolar" - it's likely just because you two don't Fit! But between two bipolars who are good friends, as you describe, you have to decide if you Want the friendship in spite of the fact that both of you may have "mood swings" and stop talking for awhile. That's normal too, btw - I hope you can see through it to the forgiveness you mentioned.
I don't know where you live, but in lots of cities the NAMI groups now have Peer Support meetings (with Real bipolars!), which would be Great, and may be better for you than the family-to-family, which is mostly made up of non-bipolar family members.
