**VERY HEAVY TRIGGER WARNING**
(also not going in Crisis Center because I'm not a danger to myself right now)
**also disclaimer that I rapid-cycle and go from being a happy-ass to wanting to end it all and that while this is basically my everyday personality and everyday lifestyle, I haven't actually seriously tried in I'm not certain how long**
**last trigger-warning for somewhat graphic descriptions described nonchalantly because I'm the world's worst judge of what sounds fucked-up and what doesn't
*and a disclaimer that if you are anybody but me and suicidal I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU GET HELP
This is the "ok cool dude I get it" skip-ahead point. Anyways.
Earlier today I tried to hang myself in my closet with one of those little stud belts from Hot Topic. I can't explain what pushed me to do it this time, I've strung it up, put my head into the noose section, and just stood there testing the waters for a while before talking it down many, many times before this.
My mother and I were arguing about I can't remember exactly what. It's probably a good time to mention that I started my menstrual cycle today and so my hormones are probably way stronger than normal, and making me act erratic
I had a feeling of "This (physical/mental pain) will never end. Okay. This is it."
And that I needed to go ahead and do it without putting much thought into it before I backed out yet AGAIN,
So I think of an excuse to go into my room, shut my door, knock all my clothes hangers off the closet shelf bar thing to make room, convert said belt into a noose and string it up (I won't detail this because I don't want to give anybody bad ideas), scrawl "Why? Why not." on the closet wall in pencil because I don't feel like writing out one've my usual explanation manifestos in my notebook but felt kind of stupid doing this 20 minutes after texting some friends in my usual absurdist humor joking manner,
Text 2 out of my 4 best friends, "I love you, thank you for being a great friend to me for all these years, take care." Get on facebook and tell my crush (who is turning into a much closer friend) that I love her, but in retrospect it didn't startle her *thank god* because we say "I love you" to each other all the time anyway, sometimes randomly.
And that was it. I stepped into my contraption, had a brief moment of, "Am I really gonna do this?" decided that yes, now or never, jumped, didn't die but felt the blood vessels in my eyes, head, and neck swell, which hurt, and I made this yelp sound I've never heard myself or anybody else make out of shock and pain,
I hear footsteps of my mother coming to see what that was all about,
Decide I have one last chance, try again, and this time my belt actually snaps and breaks. (fucking really? that's not just a movie plot thing?)
It all happened so fast. I was on the closet floor with a broken belt around my neck and my mother staring at me, kind of knowing what I just did but visually confirming it, which was a very long 2 seconds for me to witness,
She says she's locking me away and says, "Selfish, selfish, selfish."
And I just thought, "I just did that because I want a peaceful life and my home life sucks, and you continue to insult me and call me selfish? Don't you think I just tried playing judge, jury, and executioner of myself just now???" (not spoken aloud)
And something inside of me broke and I just wailed for the next maybe 45 minutes about how people successfully commit suicide all the time who could've gone on to live a happy, successful life, and I will never have that and I failed
I was just grieving about how I fucked up my one-way ticket out
And going all Bright Eyes/Hawthorne Heights/Sunny Day Real Estate-esque about how all the good ones die and my stupid ass is still here
(It sounds disgustingly melodramatic as I recount it now, I'm sure some of you are understandably rolling your eyes, but I felt at the time what I can only describe as genuine grief over what a fucking tragedy that is to me, and if not about me, that so many of the good ones DO die)
And (let's remember that I float between agnostic and atheist, but definitely never abrahamic religion) I started wailing about how god hates me and my mother (who's quietly Christian) said, "He loves you, that's why you're still here."
And I took a whole bunch of (non-lethal doses) of medicine because I just wanted to go to sleep, I was so embarrassed that that'd just failed
And I felt like shit anyways and deeply craved a sense of peaceful normalcy more than ever, and over-medicating (Which I only seriously do when I'm under serious duress) was the only thing I could think of.
But I got uncomfortably sedated, so i forced myself to wake up and eat something, which made me to where I could comfortably sleep.
And I just woke back up. And my mother and I started fighting again over my bad mental health the second I walked into her bedroom to get my "morning meds" (omeprazole for acid reflux, tylenol and some other shit for unusually bad menstrual cramps, just random stuff, shouldn't have been a big deal).
And regret sunk back in so I took a little bit of valium and I'm alright now,
But yesterday I had to argue with my mother for about an hour to get her to not call the police on me because in the States (and Georgia in particular recently) police literally shoot mentally ill people dead on-site, and even if they safely apprehended me, they'd just drag me to Georgia Regional which everybody knows is a hellhole.
So (I guess let me wrap it up and get to the point) my compromise with her yesterday was for me to get some sleep and go to my local Crisis Stabilization Unit TODAY.
Today. (Thursday) I don't want to and they're not usually helpful so I dunno if I should. I guess I should do it. I'm not partial.
So it'll probably either be that or I'll just- I'm not sure what else I'll do. I'd like to sweep it under the rug, but I know I need help.
I hope I didn't piss any of you off with my attitude. if I could have any other disposition, I would. It's just how my brain handles these things.
I haven't told a whole bunch of people. My one friend freaked out, but he knows I'm okay now. I messaged m'lady and said "Hey you might want to smoke a blunt or something first but I gotta tell you something, please don't panic" because she's highly intelligent, I mean, way smarter than me, and was in a long-term facility for 2 years and she'll know what to do. The last person I told is my friend Evan because he's a level-headed calm dude and I just kind of felt comfortable enough with him to randomly spill the beans.
I don't want attention, but I want to know how to fix myself without doing anything super drastic, because drastic measures often fail.
So yea. I guess that's that on that. Pardon my outlook on all of this, please.

Which explains the mysterious fevers and my extra fatigue. I'm so glad I pushed for answers.

Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.

You obviously have a passion for writing and expressing yourself. I have found that I have a strong connection with what I write and how that makes me feel. For example, if I write about being depressed it feeds it further and I struggle and I get stuck inside my own head. Maybe it was all that crazy existentialist stuff I had to read in French years ago...who knows. I know it's hard to turn bad thoughts into positive ones, but when you're a thinker it's important to get thoughts under control before they start to control you.
Does that make any sense?
Have you ever tried painting?
most serious of problems... Trigger Warning..
This is no good Voltaire... For you or for the people who love you.. Imagine for a moment if the argument you had with your mom pushed her to hang herself and you were expected to live with that.
I don't have any family left and when you get to that point you can't help but see life in a different way
Please reach out for help sweetie... Find some help to cope when the suicidal thoughts come at you and they do I don't dispute that
I get them I just have a plan now on how to handle them
I recognize them as illness and I know that illness needs treatment
I'm not minimizing how badly you feel V... I'm just trying to get you to look at other ways of handling some of the symptoms
Once there's suicide in a family there's often more then one.. I had a good friend who's brother committed suicide... Within 5 years both his mom and dad followed him
Huge hug for you and a blessing...xo
Well I don't really have a plan, no. I was just kind of "well this is awkward" because I know I'm long winded, but damn. This post is a little more serious than my usual manifestos. You would think...
Doesn't matter now, though. All's said and done and I failed and I'm not currently thinking about re-trying.
Thank you, though.
Right now I just have had a dull headache since yesterday that medicine won't make budge (food won't either). Is it possible I maybe busted a blood vessel in my head or brain somewhere from the pressure I took to the neck? l:
This is the point where I am humbly reminded that I'm not as medically knowledgeable as I feel at times. I wish i knew whether or not that had absolutely anything to do with this (progressively worsening) headache.
I'm sorry I'm not talking about my afterwards plan much, the headache's beginning to drown out all else right now, all other feelings and thoughts.
It's possibly just from stress, though. I don't want to seek medical attention because I don't want to risk getting 10-13'd (our code here for a doctor-ordered involuntary hold). I know that's probably kind of dumb of me, but I don't want to be stuck some place when I'm in this kind of pain.
But I don't really have any kind of plan or medicine, no. I'm sorry. I had to stop my psych meds except for gaba(pentin). And my suicidal impulses are such as that I'm not inclined to talk about it during or beforehand, usually.
My rational brain knows that's not right, but I'm not thinking in my rational brain when I'm thinking Those Things anyways.
Thanks again for your concern, Irish. I know your disappointment and shock of the belt snapping, but I'm glad that it did or else you might not be here today.
I can see what you mean about thoughts feeding into the negative feedback loop.
I can draw, sorta. My journal's full right now and we can't afford to get me another composition journal right now. I can't paint worth a shit, last I checked, and I don't have good-quality paints right now. Maybe some watercolours somewhere.
Jan I'm sorry about your family. My mother would not ever hang herself I'm sure, but if she did I'd be right behind her. So. I dunno. I understand your point in asking me, though.
She's been stressed about me doing that. I don't know why, though. It wasn't even moderately successful.
I just recognize it as part of the illness and if they last more then a few days or get too intense I call my pdoc.. Usually talking to him and a med tweak helps me.. I have had two hospitalizations for a few weeks... Big hug...xo
I've been there. My Bipolar swings started in puberty, maybe earlier, and I was not diagnosed until about 30, meanwhile scared shitless, wtf is wrong with me?
First, I can tell you things can get better, in time you will leave your house and your mom, and you will probably miss her. The trick is getting there from here.
I made 3 suicide attempts in the hopeless depths of BP depression, the last one was 20 years ago, and should have killed me. I won't go into gory details, there was my own prescription medicine involved, by the time my wife had the police break down the door, it was too late to pump my stomach, they connected me to a heart monitor in ER and told me to concentrate and try to get my heart rate below 200. Somehow I survived, without any permanent damage.
On the way to the hospital, I realized my wife loves me, and I was sorry I did it.
Suicide comes up from time to time in my DBSA group. As a co-facilitator I was trained how to deal with it, make it safe, and encourage people to seek emergency help when they need it. Mostly, talking it out can prevent taking the action. We had one person who wanted to be a facilitator who freaked when someone started talking about suicide and left the group. Not because it was a trigger, but because he just couldn't handle it and didn't know what to do. Like most things, the most important thing to do is listen, and respond with empathy.
I usually say that it's very hard to succeed at suicide. At the last minute, your animal instinct for living takes over. Somehow we often sabotage our attempts, like the belt breaking. Is that a message?
I say that an unsuccessful attempt can leave you worse off. You can become paralyzed, brain damaged, or worse. My co-facilitator says what stopped his suicidal thinking was realizing how it would affect his wife, kids. grandkids. When I did it, it was little of a fuck you to my wife; and then I saw what lengths she went to help me because she loves me.
Are you in a group? Do you have a therapist? If you think the ones you go to are BS, find different ones that aren't. They're out there, and they have a way of being found when you are sincerely looking.
I agree that a change in meds may help, especially with the change in your hormones. I tried so many meds, I don't remember the names of them all, I eventually found ones that help without bad side effects.
If you allow yourself to get better, and grow up, dammit, one day you can write a note to a scared, mixed-up young woman about how things can eventually get better.
Please don't hurt yourself. Why not? Why?
If the headache gets really bad you will need to go to er or gp to make sure there is nothing else going on. Tell your mom you love her and that you're glad she's there and maybe try (you probably already have) to get her to read about your diagnoses. it is very difficult to deal with that which we do not understand at all. hugs.
I have failed many times at many things but my most grateful and thankful failures are my 3 failed suicide attempts some 35 years ago.
I hope you get to that place one day, we can change and things do change for the better. It may take all the patience that you have and a little bit of hard work. But it can happen for you, to find peace and joy in your life.
This is my best wish for you!
I want you to read what I send you but can you make a promise now before God that you are ready to accept him and turn from this and get the help you need. Ask God now to forgive you and to help you. You see God doesn't expect us to be perfect or have all the answers before he will accept us. He loves us even in the midst of our brokenness and the midst of our darkness. You will see the light at the end of the dark tunnel you are in but you must not give up or give in. Don't Quit is the name of the poem below:
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
when the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
when the funds are low and the debts are high,
and you want to smile but you have to sigh,
when care is pressing you down a bit - rest if you must,
but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns.
As everyone of us sometimes learns.
And many a fellow turns about when he
might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow -
you may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than it seems
to a faint and faltering man;
often the struggler has given up when he
might have captured the victor's cup;
and he learned too late when the night came down,
how close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out -
the silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
and when you never can tell how close you are,
it may be near when it seems afar;
so stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
it's when things seem worst,
you must not quit.
You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me.
2
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3
You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
4
Before a word is on my tongue
you, Lord, know it completely.
5
You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
6
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.
7
Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
8
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
11
If I say, Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,
12
even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.
13
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mothers womb.
14
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
17
How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18
Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand
when I awake, I am still with you.
19
If only you, God, would slay the wicked!
Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty!
20
They speak of you with evil intent;
your adversaries misuse your name.
21
Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord,
and abhor those who are in rebellion against you?
22
I have nothing but hatred for them;
I count them my enemies.
23
Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
I will be praying for you. Please let me know how you are doing. I am very concerned. Thanks AngelDiamond
