So, I just came back from Christmas dinner with the family.
Started out BEAUTIFULLY!
Ended in the seventh circle of hell.
So. I am not at all depressed.
I am certainly not suicidal.
My doc tells me that *I* am the crazy one, but after today, I think my whole damn family is undiagnosed with SOMETHING!
Pick a mental disorder, and there will be at LEAST one or two of my relatives that MUST be walking around undiagnosed.
Here in town, I have 8 adult relatives.
DSM-IV-TR has 952 pages (not counting blank pages, Chapter Heading Pages, and long lists of Contributors, etc.).
Separate all the remaining pages, shrink them all down to playing-card-size, deal all 952 cards randomly amongst these eight individuals, and all eight would have an equally "winning" hand. An eight-way tie for first place.
At least I DID have the good sense to see a fn doctor about it!
There's just too much else to fit here in this forum - hell, if I went into much detail, this post would make DSM-IV look like a bloody travel brochure!

I have had a good Thanksgiving and Christmas because I cut all dysfunctionals out of my life. I'm pleased to say I have survived two holidays.

Then, I peeled myself out of my nice warm bed and went out in the freakin' cold to see my BF "S" (who sleeps in my car, he's homeless right now)...and of course, he wasn't there.
So, I went back to bed and listened to slamming doors and screaming kids. (more PTSD induced trauma)
Then I got buzzed again, (this time it was sort-of expected) and I spent a couple of hours with "S" in my car. We swapped Christmas gifts and talked a while.
I did enjoy the company and the relatively peaceful day. It was also nice to have a place to whine about the grey parts, too.

I'll just be keeping a keen nose tuned in to detect the first part per billion molecule of stuff starting to go south, and be the first one out the door!
@darkenedheart - yes - thank God in heaven that I have the whole coming year to recover!
@Gwendoly - Back in the "good old days" of early PC's when DOS was king, one would set environment variables similarly - something like:
SET DIRCMD = 0
would disallow users from seeing directories the usual way.
so, here in this forum, I sometimes chose to invent fictitious environment variables like:
SET RANTMODE = ON
SET RANTMODE = OFF
or
SET ME = ON SOAPBOX
SET ME = OFF SOAPBOX
in HTML, for example, to turn italic letters on and off like this:

I enjoy your posts and your sense of humor. I can just picture you next year in your Sherlock Holmes get-up with a HUGE magnifying glass prepared to spot anything that might send your Christmas gathering south.
