I hate them. I have a fear of enclosed spaces so my anxiety is out of control!

you see, we always had granola & stuff like that - no sugar cereals.

i was told that too. In the uk we have a few places where you can go for a break instead of hospital.

He really upset me with his comments, as he said he felt this was how I saw hospital.

I'm still not doing too good but am seeing pdoc tomorrow to decide on an action plan

It seems to me that this is a person without a clue. I can't imagine anyone looking at a hospital stay as a vacation. What an idiot!

I'm not going to lie, the few times I was in the hospital I saw it as a get away from life for a while, and I made some really good friends, none of whom I talk to anymore, unfortunately.

Does that mean I enjoyed it? No. Sure, it was a nice enough hospital--privately owned, not the scary state kind--but still, when I was there, my main aim was always to get out.

know what he means, though. Have encountered people like that in hosp. who prided themselves on being frequent flyers.

The hospital has been a safe haven for me. I know that once I am there I am safe. There is no greater fear than to fear yourself or what you might do to yourself or others.

The hospital is a revolving door for some people who really have no where else to turn for health care regardless of how serious or minor the problem may be, but there are quite a few people who abuse the system.

To express a very broad generalization about a particular group of people is wrong. Good docs/soc. workers/therapists take the time to see and understand their patient's needs as individuals.

The revolving door may be a result of there being too many health care professionals who do not really understand the extent and/or the severity of our illness or those who are just too lazy to try and who really don't give a crap about the well-being of anyone but themselves.

I don't know anyone who feels that a hospital stay is a vacation in a luxury hotel. In fact, most of us are just relieved if the behavioral health ward is like the rest of the hospital and not closer to some state run asylum out of a horror movie.
