A doc put me on it many years ago for sleep and it does work. I still take 50mg although I have been off of it a few times. When I started I was taking 200 mg and I was a bit of a zombie. It is a tricyclic antidepressant but doesn't work well as a AD, I was told by my doc and pdoc.

I was on it and I seem to have positive feelings about it, but I can't remember why I didn't stay on it.
A lot of times, drugs work for me for a while and then stop, so perhaps that's what happened to me with that.

Either that, or maybe I couldn't take the priapism.
I see that's a side effect of it!!!

It didn't work for me either - less of an effect to the over the counter sleep meds.

I was just switched from my serequel to trazadone. It has been a good change with sleep I get the full nights rest. I have really vivid dreams witch show that I am in my third stage of sleep and the hungover I was getting with serequel is gone. I get up at the same time each morning and I am able to push through tiredness. And I am more productive. I tryied ambien and lunesta and those were way wrong for me serequel I didn't sleep all night and had a horrible hungover all day trying to work like that was impossible. so I am happy!!!

I've been on it a few times with varying degrees of success. I don't know why it works sometimes and not others. It's good for sleep. Just know you're supposed to take it right before you go to sleep, or it won't work. Or at least that's what they told me in the hospital. Either way, best of luck.

And to clarify, I know you're on it for sleep so obviously you'd take it before bed...but I mean right before you plan to go to sleep, not hours before. Maybe I just read my own post and thought it was unclear. Sorry if this is annoying.

I have been using it for a couple of years and generally it works okay for me, I don't sleep deeply but when it comes down to it its better then no sleep at all.

I used it for a few months and it worked well for sleep. I just tend to sleep-walk and sleep-eat when I take anything for sleep....woke up once with a strawberry pop-tart in my hair, half eaten of course....then I wonder where the extra 20 lbs came from lol. Now I stick to my zyprexa and xanax and sleep fine. Good luck with the trazadone!!

I was on trazodone for a year for sleep, but it lost is oooomphhh, like all the other sleep meds.

The only one that has been reliable is zopiclone, which is a molecular variant of lunesta, and much cheaper.

I have been taking it for about 3 yrs and it has worked wonders for me.

My bf is bipolar and he takes it for sleep, and has taken it for sleep for several years now. It works great for him, unless he takes it and then gets distracted by something and doesn't make it to bed right away! Got to take it and go right to bed!

I've been taking trazadone for sleep for a couple of yrs now. I ended up taking 400mg. becasue it kept losing its effect. Right now I am on an antidepressant remuron, which also causes drowsiness, I was able to wean down to 50mg, of trazadone, 1 mg. of clonopin, along with 45mg of remuron and having been sleeping good for a couple of months. Yes I'm on it & it helps with sleep etc.

Each person's chemistry is different.

For the folks it does work for, I have heard good things about TRazadone.

Sadly, for me it doesn't work but for a friend of mine, it works great.

I think it is one of those good ole standby's, but like with any medicine, you have to check with the doc and it depends on the person.

But yea, I have a good impression overall of this drug.

I have been on it for many years. I am now taking 300mgs of it nightly. I have several times stopped taking it to make sure I am not addicted to it and nothing happens except lack of sleep. I have even gone off of it for a month or two just to be sure and everything is OK.

They have 50mgs, 100mgs and 150mgs pills of this medication.
