They do often work as what they were created for, which is an Anti-Depressant....your Dr. is using them as a med for your depression and manic issues. You say 6 pills, but you don't say the dosage. The usual max outpatient dosage for depression is 400mg, so depending on what mg. pill your using, you could be perfectly within the normal range. These are short acting meds, so taking them every few hours can be normal.
If I'm very stressed or anxious it doesn't work and I have to take an Ambien.
